    A trace is the copper strip on the PCB which carries electricity.

    A bus is the set of traces that collectively carries data (or one trace, as the case may be for serial buses).

    Only if you have the seed/key which is used. It's not like I've ever worked with the things, but I would assume that there is a key used to seed the PRNG.

    I think he meant something like Password Safe where you control the master key, and that protects all the others.

    I use VMWare personally though, but Virtual PC might have a mode to restore the disk drive to a base state after every boot (kind of like deepfreeze). VMWare does.

    You can use Samba to keep all your files on the OSX box, using the bridged network. That way, when it does get full of malware, you can just reboot and it's clean again.

    Well an impact of this scale is supposed to do damage to an area about the size of Texas, right?

    So Washington would be more appropriate than Washington DC. And much more convienient for the OSS people ;)

    You description is almost correct, but not quite. Rather than use a *HUGE* third stage which used about 2 tonnes of Lithium Deutride, they split it up into several capsules, each with about 10-20Mt worth of lithium deutride. Only the fuel used for the thermonuclear third stage.

    Think of it as trying to break a rock with a cold chisel. What will work better? Hitting it once hard enough to break it apart, or hitting it lots of times, but with about a 40th of the force? Even if the smaller bombs are more efficient, they aren't going to be able to put a huge amount of energy into one point.

    I am still a kid, and my Christmas gift is I've had to teach my parents to import CDs into iTunes...several times.

    What part of "Put the cd in and click import" don't they understand?

    Or maybe it's just my parents that are like this...my mum just spent 15 minutes trying to find the start menu on my computer...I then pointed to the line at the top of the screen that says "This is lachlan.(none) (Linux i686 2.6.8.1).

    That said, I wouldn't mind it if they could mirror Portage for me ;)

    It can't affect the OSX system, if that's what you mean, unless you have a setup for sharing files between them and are running as root on OSX. Which you shouldn't be doing anyway.

    As for Windows inside the sandbox, that's as unsecure as Windows on a real PC.

    If we could get a Tsar Bomba into space, that would probably work well.

    For those who don't want to read the Wikipedia article, it is a fusion bomb with a 100Mt yield. Only one has ever been detonated, and the yield was intentionally lowered to 56Mt.

    It was powerful enough to cause 3rd degree burns at 100km, and blast damage up to 1000km away.

    That would do a fair amount of damage to an asteroid less than a kilometer across.
