This has got to be one of the most insightful comments on the whole page. We need TONS more data, over a LONGER period of time, before doing Chicken Little impressions. Yeesh.
I don't get it. That 'utter bashing' doesn't look like thorough refuting at all. Those are the words of someone who just didn't like what they heard. They didn't like the idea that someone might think about what he said.
This article is from February 2003. The guy is an evolutionary biologist, but search for the word 'factory' and notice where this factory is rumored to exist. You guessed it, Liaoning Province.
Hate replying to myself, but I just noticed the words "volcanic eruption." Okay, but is this known for a fact? How on earth does a volcano come to be a contributor of organic gases?
Where is all this CO2 supposed to have come from? The planet is covered with ice, remember? All life has been extinguished. What on earth (no pun intended) is going to produce it?
This has got to be in the top 5 dumbest theories evar...
divert some of the hydrogen to generate more electricity?
Well, no, not really. As another poster stated, it would take more electricity to split the water than what you'd get from it. This is just supposed to be a fireplace.
this has the potential to become a cleaner way of creating fire
That's the exact purpose for it. It's not really for power production.
I wholly agree with you on the solar panels, though. The catching and condensing part sounds good, too. I believe you'd actually extract more heat from the water by condensing it, thereby making the whole thing more efficient.
If you look around at what was available at the time it came out, I don't know how you could not see how innovative it is/was. Furthermore, lots of devices had one or two of those features, but these dudes innovated by taking ALL of that and sticking it in one device. Have you ever seen how much space everything takes up inside that tiny little case?
Now this is just nitpicking, but important nonetheless: The joystick is ANALOG. As in the kind you see on t3h k00l XBOX and stuff. Also, I think you forgot the little matter of the ATi graphics chip. Tell me how many PDA's you've seen with either of those, let alone both.
just as soon as Morse is found to be better than another technology (little bitty thumb keyboards), it's considered unnecessary? I sense a little more than irony here...
He just hit the nail ON THE HEAD(tm). This is the source of the entire controversy: giving extremely 'effective' weapons to persons who may or may not use them for proper purposes, and who may not even understand what they do. Probably, a whole lot of people are going to get blinded by this before anybody even gets the lawsuit going.
watch out for these Chinese dudes. Everybody was glued to the screen back when Russ^H^H^H^H the USSR was doing the space race thing, but people aren't paying as much attention to Red^H^H^H China, but here goes one, then another, then two, then three, then space station, then moon...they'll be on Mars before long.
Don't bother, TA doesn't tell us...

I'd be interested in seeing the figures for XP X64 with SMP on the same system...

reporting the obvious
Oh, well, now, I wouldn't say that.

Very interesting read.
yeah, I guess that's about right.
Well, now, I do believe E17 has some of that, doesn't it?
Or, indeed, maybe hardware driver is broken...

Whew! Thank goodness! I thought maybe all those industry secrets that guy published publicly (sic) were gonna do some actual harm to the company.
I used to empty the trash in a library several years ago, and they threw these things out all the time, book and all.

Shame, really. Product so far ahead of its time. But that's why it failed in the marketplace.
Makes you wonder what kind of market it is that rewards the incrementalists, while punishing innovators.
Security updates are supposed to be exempt from the check.
Didn't they say otherwise just a few months ago?
Got to find that link...

Does anyone think this will stop Microsoft from pulling similar stunts?

Why do the rest of the American public sit there
You haven't seen much of the American public, have you?
studies show that the more money people make, the more people spend.
Tell us something we don't know about the M$ tax, like how much is spent on bribes, ok?
