    The antennas are covered in a radome so there is no drag. An steerable array would be considerably more complicated for liitle benefit. But it would be possile to implement

    Usually a rotating antenna fed from a 3-axis gyro. Modern aircraft use ring-laser gyros which are very accurate. The antenna always points to the same spot in the sky (assuming it can, on long flights the curvature of the earth can become a factor).

    If they stick with the new UI it will eventually become the standard paradigm. But not in a couple of years as you say. There are few good reasons to upgrade to 2007 and many reasons not to. Indeed the new UI is a reason to stay with 97, 2000 or 2003 (or whatever). This lack of a reason to upgrade will keep the old interface on many desktops for years to come.

    OOo is not implementing a ribbon. I wonder if it may get more corporate users. I doubt it, mostly because I do not imagine very many businesses are considering upgrading. Where I am, we have Office2000 in Win2k and it works well enough, often enough. No reason to switch.

    Most modern rootkits are kernel level and Trip Wire can not readily detect them. Nevertheless it is still useful to have at hand.

    I must take exception to their: 10. Accessing Applications discussion. Having a second tier of apps or whatever on the dock, would, I think ruin the minimalist elegance of the dock. Finding lesser used apps is what Spotlight if for. Click the button (or Apple+Space, which is much simpler) and type what you want. Done. No expanding submenus a la the Start Menu.

    Because the rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer. This situation is unsustainable and, if history is our guide, can only be solved by revolution. Good looking people don't keep getting better looking. Healthy people don't get healthier.

    It is a bad thing. As you say, the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. That is system unsustainable, and will eventually collapse.

    While it is pretty awful that 2% own 50%. The study reveals that 1% of the population owns 40% of the weatlth. Also the poorest 50% own 1% of the wealth.

    In Genrmany (at least while I was there) they were reffered to as a Handy. It was an odd bit of English adoption that has a double-entendre to it only in English. Stragely it was embraced in Germany and most people would talk of 'forgetting their handy'.

    More standrds compliant choices are better than fewer standards compiant choices. But if there are many competeing standard then we all lose. The Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD nonsense is indicative of how standards are all but compulsory in modern technolgies.

    Office 2007 offers a new wrinkle in MS software. They have changed the GUI for all the apps. This is going to require some re-training. Unless there are clear must-have features in Office 2007, there is a real reason to NOT switch.

    OOo may get a few nmore users out of this.

    I'm not flaming you here, but what exactly do you mean by 'win'? The situation in Iraq is much more subtle than a simple: win or lose, pick one. A withdrawal now would likely mean that Iraq would split in three warring parts. This will seriously affect the oil supply and have severe repercussions on the global economy among other evils. However, if the Americans (and British) stay they serve only to inflame emotions of Arabs and Muslims around the world. The dream of a western style democracy in Iraq is dead. I do not know what the next step is in Iraq, but whatever it is, it will cause agony.
