  1. Ah, lovely Newark on Missing Lab Mice Infected With Plague · · Score: 1

It makes me feel all warm and tingly inside, that I go to school at NJIT, which is essentially across the street from where these mice were released. It's also great that their escape seems to coincide exactly with the beginning of the Fall semester.

The one thing that comforts me, is that the mice will either be shot in a gang related incident, or become drug addicts, before they are able to spread their tasty payload... This also gives me a good excuse to not go to class.

I wouldn't worry on an investor level...

We recently looked into getting a support contract from Sun at my place of work, and they quoted us $750,000 for 1 year of bronze support, for a modestly sized lab (probably around 100 machines, half of which are V100's/Netra T105's).

That is for a small lab... I don't want to imagine what bigger labs are paying for their support contracts. I know this doesn't directly address your concern, but I hope it does give you an idea on how much money they are bringing in.

Is this quote supposed to make me feel bad? That the head of the MPAA is fighting for the rights of his son who is a producer? I don't. In fact, it turns me off more than anything.

I totally agree with that... I find it very difficult to feel sorry for millionaires not getting richer. I know we're in a capitalist country, where you can make all the money you want if you're good at it, and that movie piracy is stealing, but for gods sake... don't try to use SYMPATHY to convince us not to steal your movies -- you have far more money than I will ever have, and I will NOT feel sorry for you, EVER.

I feel sorry for kids in Somalia who cannot eat, not for movie producers who cannot buy an M5 for their teenage son, as a birthday present.

  5. Re:Wow..! on Which VNC Software Is Best? · · Score: 1

Agreed. Windows XP Remote Desktop is definitely the best.

I usually use that, however one problem is that the remote desktop client doesn't let you connect to localhost, on an XP machine. I SSH into home, via PuTTY and setup a tunnel for port 3389, but can't use it for this reason. If you want to administer a remote machine, via an SSH tunnel, you have no choice but to use VNC (or setup some port forwarding, for a specific ip block, as I do for work)

Still haven't had the time to figure out why.

Regardless, TightVNC is definitely my favorite VNC. It's small, efficient, clean and the new video hook driver is amazing -- it rivals Windows XP remote desktop.
