I'll try to make this short and to the point. I belive in God, Christ as my savior, the whole 9 yards. Now there are many out there who calls themselves christians who are not really. If someone says he/she is a tiger, does that actually make them a tiger? Of course not. Likewise just because people may believe or say there are Christians does not mean they are. How do you tell? Read the Bible of course:). If they are saying, teaching, doing anything contrary to the Bible, there not christians. Simple as that.
I'm just making it a point because of tired of God getting a bad name from what these people do and people using any excuse to attack the Bible. (Oh he says he's christain and he's doing evil things, see how evil christianity is blah blah blah)
So much for trying to make this short......

"Europe enjoyed mild winters and warm summers with a storm belt far to the north. Rainfall may have been 10 to 15 percent greater than now. Not only was the country less subject to severe storms, but the skies were less cloudy and the days, sunnier."
Ok we in the present have trouble predicting the weather accurately for tomorrow, how the "f**K does this guy know there were less severe thunder storms and what not? Not to mention accurate weather records only go back to a little over a hundred years. Sounds like a bunch of crock to me.
I don't trust man. I only trust God. Remeber these 'scientists' were the same ones who were trying to tell us that the earth was flat hundreds of years ago. Yea someone will say sciencetist were the ones who discovered the earth was round. They did but the ones before them didn't think so....
Also all science has contradictory point of views. I'm sure there are articles disapproving the theory of global warming but you won't hear as much of them because uptight people won't have a cause to fight for not to mention it doesn't make good NY Times reading. (Evironmentalism = big $$$ for these organizations).
All in all I agree with what you said:)
How about the fact we are putting way to much ideology behind a great os. Linux is nothing more nothing less than an operating system with cool apps. It doensn't represent communism nor capitalism. It's just an alternative for some of the other shit that's out there.
I somewhat feel your pain man. Were mostly a unix shop except for secretaries and high execs but even those small amount of windows machines gives me such a headache. I don't patch machines unless asked to because quite frankly I don't have the time to always mess around with that shit(there's only 2 of us to maintain a 100+ machines). Not to mention if you take over someone's machine for a large amount of time they start having a hissy fit.
Lets ban IRC!!! While were at it, lets ban e-mail because you know people communicate evils through e-mail: virus', porn, other illegal stuff.
You know what? That's not enough!!! Lets ban the telephone because people can plot and speak evil over it. Come to think of it, mail gotta be illegal too. Since they can't send there dirty little pics via irc and e-mail, Lord knows they'll go the good ol' snail mail route to send their filth!
F*ck, lets just ban all forms of communication while were at it. Can't talk, can't plot no evil. Ha, there we go!!!!
This is not a knock against you, just didn't know where else to post. Point is, evil comes from the inside and where there's a will there's a way. Thousands upon thousands of years of history should of shown that.
Also, how can we expect the same government that give people slap of the wrist for killing another person to effectively police something like this?
You wanna hear a success story? We've been mostly a unix shop since the dawn of time. Years before I arrived the dominant platform was aix and now its linux(has been for the past couple of years). Sure linux is not without its problems but in our high powered environment 1)we need the stablility/security 2)the costs we save is phenomenal. We only have to buy one copy of linux for an upgrade on some 70+ machines and that's that. Now compared to windows where you need 70+ copies/licenses of windows os, 70+ licenses of office, 70+ licenses anti-virus software crap and not to mention the TIME to patch all os'. Granted not all stories are like mine. Some will be positive, some neutral and some negative. But this is my story and I'm sticking to it!
I think it will happen in the gradual slow process that its been happenning. There's not going to be a overnight sensation of linux. It's just slowly going to keep building on its head of steam until one day when it will be on par with windows(competition wise). That day we are going to refect back and wonder "damn when did this happen"
Fact is, there is no such thing as bad press and as more and more people find out about linux and get fed up with the microsoft bs, then they will switch and see for themselves....
No nothing is free from fud. But linux fud I feel is a tad bit better than microsoft's fud.
Wether or not bill gates said that or not still doesn't change the fact microsoft is monopolostic with quite frankly expensive shitty software.
Ok all software has bugs blah blah blah but something that is that buggy shouldnt have the expensive price tag it does. Who would buy for a $20,000 new car with known holes in it that prevents the car from working properly?
When you have fairly stable os' like linux and mac and then you have windows, it make's you wonder why can't microsoft do there software like these other companies can.
Correct me if I'm wrong since I am not all too familiar with DOS but didn't DOS only support 640k for awhile? If so I think that shows the proof right there...If not then just ignore that comment:)
And just because Gates denies it doesn't mean he never did say it either. For my example, I quote one of the greatest quotes of all time.."I did not have sexual relations with that woman." OO didn't you Bill? Didn't you?
I went to a state school(SUNY Binghamton) and I can't complain too much about the curriculum. You had you're data structures, basic programming courses, advanced programming courses, a course dedicated to the theory of programming languages, etc. Not to mention too a mandatory of 5 math classes.
Not once did they focus on any management side of things. Everything was programming/computer related.
Of course the degree did me little use since I am now a System Administrtor but that's another story.
Point is check out the college/program before you think about enrolling. Ask many question and questions that matter to YOU and I don't think you can go wrong....
I don't patch my windows system. Call it what you wan't but my personal experience, patches hurt my computer more than it helped it.
Thus far a hardware firewall, not searching for porn in windows, and an up to date virus protector is doing the trick for me....
Haha. With all the security flaws going on I've been joking around with my friends saying that the "Hello World" program can cause a denial of service attack..
On a kinda related note, I just heard about a high risk security flaw in the "Hello World" program.
The hacker can take the output and use it as a ddos attack to break into your flawed system. No patches are available to date.
