And notice that we hear nothing about googol.net - an EXACT spelling, with absolutely no reference to Professor Edward Kasner... It's because google has become profitable.
But it would be fair to say that most businesses do rely on the internet, in some way or form. At least, they do in New Zealand. E-Mail would have to be a main source of internal communications (eg, within the company - but not the same building, as within the building would probably function without the net) - definately for technical resources on products and the like.
Because the creators think one way, and the the "other people" think in totally another. Something the creators never thought possible could happen, simply because someone else sees the system on a different angle.
The target market isn't l33t gamers. It's the kids that want to be leet gamers, but have little/no skill in their games/on the computer who blame the computer for them missing that shot.
Or, there's the 'mommy, daddy, I want THAT computer, it looks cool!' possibility.
Not that I've ever designed this sort of thing before, but a few things come to mind - expanding/repeating the points made in the parent.
Keep it simple, and big.
Also, try and use Text and tables (or some other similar arrangement) rather than Images for titles - text is more flexible when it comes to resizing.
Internet Explorer *winces* (what I would assume these people are likely to be running, as most of the world does)has settings for overriding the default page settings for font size, I would hope that someone has turned this on for these people. Even though Firefox is better, this is likely what they have.
Use clean fonts such as Arial. Use bold for emphasis. I don't think that Italics would be a good idea, simply because text can easily become garbled.
Lastly, check the colours that you are using. Contrasting Text is good - Think: Black text on White Background.
Just an idea: Visit a few normal websites, and crank the text size up to see how they react to get an idea of what works and what doesn't.
Some people find web based interfaces annoying - I prefer using app's rather than web based interfaces, simply because they somehow seem nicer and easier to use (even though they may not be, but they somehow give this illusion to me). It's probably because I'm on slow internet, and loading the pages gets irritating.
I geuss if I had faster net, then they wouldnt bother me - but being on 128k sucks.
Why eat pomegranate seeds when you can simply devour the soul-eating MS Burchinal Red Delicious Apples!

You know, slashdotting telemarketers and spammers doesn't sound like a bad idea to me. Surely, we could pull it off...
If they had 'New Zealand /Matamata' for the location, it would have been more beliveable. :P
