About the last thing that comes to mind is "WinZip". Surely anyone in the least bit serious about security would look into something more mature (the implementation not the algorithm).
MEMORANDUM TO ALL EMPLOYEES OF THE DHS AND US INTELLIGENCE SERVICES:
So as to counter the terrorists' latest methods for conducting espionage against our great nation, all official documents will now be composed in a combination of Wingdings 3 and MS Comic Sans.
There was absolutely zero followup with regard to Mr. Saral Surakul - our esteemed college professor. It would be interesting to know whether his identity was simply hijacked/spoofed for the purposes of domain registration or whether he was in fact complicit in the scam.
The question we might want to be asking ourselves is do we want a cletus like character behind the wheel of any motor vehicle?
With the right infrastructure and electronic pilot assist (in car), is it really inconcievable that at some point in the distant future we will be a nation of flying-car owners?
And yet his total take was a meager $3500, offset by the very real risk of arrest and imprisonment. To make criminal behavior like this truley worthwhile, one would have to consistently defraud the target retailer of much more than the above amount.
You are correct in saying that this is a "perfect crime", if executed correctly. The issue, however, I would contend, is that like most crime, the problem is making a scheme like this work on a consistent basis.
I submit to you that it would not. The risk/reward is simply too great over the long term.
Zeschuk said they are aiming for an immersive experience that will keep the player in the game for plenty of hours, although maybe not as long as Baldur's Gate or Baldur's Gate 2. "It may be a bit shorter, but it will be a wider experience and the immersion will be better," he said.
This Mr. Zeschuk and I have varying opinions, it seems, as to what makes an RPG "immersive". Specifically, Baldurs Gate, Baldur's Gate II and the associated exp packs were extremely immersive with a rich story line, excellent environments, non-liniarity, etc. and, quite frankly I have found very few CRPGs which compare to the franchise since.
It's going to take more than a third person perspective and a few million polygonal models that I'm sure will make my GeForce Ti4600 cry to make a truely immersive game.
I think the superiority of the alien culture/religion was implicit in the grandparent's argument. If ET is lightyears ahead of humanity technically then it is not an outlandish supposition that terrestrial culture, and thus religion would be "overwhelmed" into extinction.
Not to sound flippant, but how is this scheme of providing discounts to universities any different than the volume discounts available in the retail or commodities sectors?
Would this be any different if, say, Apple provided iTunes service to all the employees oforg x (say for the law firm that represents them) at a significant, volume discount?
Of a similar report compliled by the RAND Co's subsidiary the BLAND Corporation, completely discounting the efficacy of a doomsday device in the war on terror.
"Is it the shape, or just the pounding baseline?"
Day 0 includes all the hours of the first day (cardinal versus ordinal numbers!) including Day 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, etc.
We come to Day 1 only after 24 hours have elapsed after the beginning of the convention, Day 0.
And I write this for the benefit of the (very few) Slashdot users who might be confused by this. I don't like feeding trolls.
I don't think I've ever seen such a witty troll.
I bow before your mastery of the trollish arts sir!

Kremlin Encrypt/Decrypt comes to mind as software that I've had good experience with.

Legal, no. Fair game? You bet!
My thoughts exactly!

An entertaing read nevertheless.
