where do all the anonymous cowards, praising nokia's "windows demise strategy", always come from ? a pr company ? it is really obvious, you know. maybe try registering a dozen phony accounts or something.
i seem to recall it actually being the case of 99.99% of passengers having no idea what to do with parachutes. they would probably be more likely to plop on the ground, just with a backpack attached
do they sell the software ? i wouldn't expect them to, i guess the business is in selling the kits, instructions, brand etc:) if so, opensourcing that software should bring in lots of interest from more advanced crowd and make mindstorms approach the longevity of standard lego set. sure, usually longevity is fought against, but lego owes part of it's existence people having real old sets, seeing how they still fit in with new ones and getting more for their kids (well, or themselves =) )
i just skimmed the articles, but it also just said "linux based". busybox would still be great... but it could easily be as closed platform as android and friends. if it would be truly open... i think i have some plans to waste a bit of money and time then;)
and looks like their online designer still has no linux support, so they don't seem to be very interested in that area:> http://ldd.lego.com/
i don't think they see actual responsibility being shifted inward. at least not the real world ones. unless you are talking about "real christians" - the perfect, friendly, loving, non-hateful ones - of which there probably are 2 per million or so.
When I worked in construction, I found inches are better than centimeters, because you can specify your tolerances really well. It's really hard to cut a board to a mm precision with a circular handsaw, but no problem to cut it to 1/16 of an inch.
so it is easier to cut it down to 0,15875 cm precision than to 0,1 cm ? surprising:)
don't they have vampires around there ? they could have used the byproduct as an extra income, and avoided polluting the river. as a bonus, vampires wouldn't kill off as many innocent people. win-win-win !
Sure, it may take a day longer in the US but even in Europe it's quicker and easier to fly instead (even with the TSA)
europe doesn't have tsa. just sayin';) although i believe we might have tsa for any flights departing to usa. probably we don't have national authorities over on the usa soil to check outbound flights to europe...
just fyi, i found your comment somewhat confusing - probably because of a word you left out:)
i'd guess "entry everyones authorized_keys" should have been something like "entry into everyone's authorized_keys", which then starts to make some sense
and no, there is not point to stick that artists have no need to make a living, just that this need has to be proportionate to what the society finds appropriate - if artists think that society is paying too little, well, too bad - they probably should do something else... just like any other profession out there.
as for independent music, it;s hard to categorise. instead i do not buy cds (except at concerts), go to concerts whenever i have some time, buy t-shirts and other merch. no easy profit from me, but i did get 4 t-shirts from paprika korps last time (they were well priced, i'd get more but they had run out of the ones i wanted;) )

the problem is that some sets have almost no reusable parts, all of that is very custom. this is especially true about smaller sets.
the technic line is probably the one with most of the details being very, very generic
why are all pro-strict-copyright comments on this article by anonymous cowards ? has riaa & friends discovered slashdot ?
new business model might be producing some product which actually is beneficial enough for the society so they are willing to pay for it, instead of trying to out-legislate copying (which does not deprive original author). there is no entitlement to income by doing music or whatever (nevertheless, limited copyright for commercial use seems to make a lot of sense).
there is no guaranteed income in being... well, anybody. and there is no such thing for being an artist. artists feel entitled to holding longer and longer monopolies on culture, as if they came in and did it all in an empty space, without relying on any previous influences.
limiting copying is not an answer, unless the question is "how do we milk this outdated business model a bit longer". copyright will have to change, unless more or less free part of the world changes to a society that is as totalitarian as the "usual suspects".
there is an overproduction in almost any art field, and it is being advertised so everybody wants the latest only. resources for creating art are available so much more that everybody can be producing it, instead of all of us being consumers that are dependent on these few "gatekeepers of culture". there is no way for anybody to listen to all music or view all movies produced. society is slowly trying to say that maybe some of those artists should do something else. copyright law change that would only restrict commercial use (making personal use free) would restore sanity in this field.
either that, or totally failing to understand that somebody else will have to work on the code at some point.
i've seen a very strong correlation between being pedantic about coding style/formatting/standards and turning out good code (less bugs/objections during code review - and not just about formatting...).
the ones who claim that "minor" things don't matter end up producing a massive mess. of course, it's not their fault, it's all the fault of those other pesky guys, the ones that waste hundreds of hours in code reviews and cleaning up all that mess...
that's increasing the role of a publisher into a "real" developer. it also creates situation where initial development is not concerned about cross-platform compatibility, thus making ports much more complicated and expensive.
i reject the argument about umping all developers in a group that is only concentrating on the game mechanics - they (all developers) do have to interact with underlying architecture anyway, so you could have "designers" who care about game mechanics, and lower level specialists who would ensure that the overall architecture is flexible and portable:)
well, one joke still stands. what the fuck are "partitions D through I" ? none of the partition table i can set up seems to use anything like that...
yeah, yeah, i'm complaining about an extremely low level of quality of a slashdot article. and no, original source being crap in that area is no excuse:)
ahhh, i imagine printcrime ;)

Flying from Boston to Los Angeles is 3,000 miles by road
must be a quite wide road for a plane to use, i guess :>

wait, you have 100 apple systems and one of your main requirements is "without spending too much cash" ? :D
good reference :) :/
wondering where the original typo comes from.
also, finished syberia 1, but got stuck in syberia 2 - most likely because of a bug
does google have "filter violent results" option ?
