As interesting as these movie download services are, it seems as though most have had trouble picking up enough steam to stay around. I run a few swapping sites and one them is specially for DVDs. (swapadvd.com - Shamless plug) There are other sites that compete in this same space but with slightly different models, peerflix.com, titletrader.com and switchdiscs.com. I would love to hear what the Slashdot crowd thinks about the swapping of media, books, CDs and DVDs.
I have a friend who recently setup a PVR and he used MythDora http://g-ding.tv/. It is basically Fedora Core with all of the MythTV stuff already setup and configured. All you do is literally install the OS and you are reading to go.
I totally agree this parent. Having been a Rackspace customer for over 3 years, they are nothing but fanatical! They never cease to amaze me when I need to call and ask a question. They are worth every peny for sure. We currently have 5 servers hosted behind a load balancer and the transition to this setup was flawless. Rackspace is literally another employee in our company. With the level of Rackwatch support that we have, I get emails/sms AFTER they have fixed the problem and before I even know it happened!
Sure AJAX might take longer to develop and debug but the only thing that matters is if the end user likes it. If the AJAX app can make their experience better for a particular site then in turn they spend more time and also refer more friends.
On the back end there are other benefits such as lower bandwidth usage among many (at least in my case).
Also your comment about needing a 1 Ghz processor is a bit our there. Sure I could write a GUI that could require a 2 Ghz processor but the name of the game is "lean and mean".
Wow that works out to be about $15 / hour. The last I checked you would make that much an hour working at Home Depot collecting carts in the parking lot!
It is not even close to being worth it.

Dell will be offering XP for the next year or so. You have to do some digging to get it to come up but it is there.

Who fixes the bugs?
There already is an extension that allows you to control winamp from within FF, it is called FoxyTunes http://www.foxytunes.org/firefox/

Do not use Windows, plain and simple.
why not plan a trip to the sun, she be nice and safe there....
There is no big blue "E" so that means no internet, right?
They should offer a third option to get the system with everything including windows as a 90 day trial. That would be the cheapest system possible!
