They already have heat rays that work without chips and attack a much larger surface than a heated implant would.
Besides, we're talking about microelectronics here, if you put enough power through them to heat your body to a painful degree the chip itself would most likely burn out.
The stuff I've seen for sale in MMOs like that was mostly items that can't be gained otherwise, lots of cosmetic stuff and some time-limited super bonuses like "double item drops" and "crafting cannot fail".
That only works when the market is overflowing with "sellers". In a near-monopoly position people can be forced into much, MUCH worse conditions simply because they need the service and they can't get a deal that doesn't require pledging their first-born.
Not only that but what about not-for-profit IP like freeware, home movies or writing that's not being sold? A GPL project relies on copyright to enforce the GPL, they'd need to be able to claim damages high enough to scare a big company off but they don't have or make any money that could pay the IP tax. Someone who's writing stories as a hobby or in order to possibly become an author later won't be able to keep any protection on his works that may become important later on (e.g. the first novels describing a universe that is later used in a huge selling book but can't be protected because it was written without a budget).
I've seen websites that work in FF and are broken in Opera but I suspect shoddy Javascript as the cause since it's often caused by websites that for some reason implement standard functionality in JS (like iframes and opening in new windows).
Sony can refuse to license any title they want* and SCEA has a tendency to refuse when a title uses 2d graphics (little big planet uses 3d graphics AFAIK) and is not going to be sold as B rate, i.e. cheaper or in a compilation (though I'm not sure if cheaper is enough). I read that several 2d SNK titles weren't released for the PS2 outside of compilations in the US (Metal Slug series, for example) while in Europe they were sold as standalone games. Occassionally a 2d game gets through (Odin Sphere) but I have no idea what their criteria are, probably "it needs this much hype" or something.
*=They also refuse AO rated titles and rumors claim they refuse licensing sometimes to exact pressure, supposedly they were refusing PS2 licenses to companies who didn't announce games for the PS3 at some E3. The Simple Series games (mostly cheap shovelware but as Sturgeon's Law suggests not all of them suck) were also blocked by SCEA from what I heard, causing the publisher to go for the XBox 360 instead of the PS3.
Yeah but you won't treat a 9mm like a nuclear missile. Standing behind the launcher of a nuke doesn't mean you're safe, losing a nuke isn't solved by going to the next WalMart and buying a new one.
If the plane was lost in an accident while carrying no or conventional payload it wouldn't be very important, the wreck would only be interesting to know what happened and if it can't be found it's not that big of a deal. If the plane goes lost and carries nuclear payload the wreck must be secured to prevent anyone from just taking the warheads for himself. If there were nukes on board but noone knew about that the wreck would be considered low priority while some base is still wondering where its nukes went. It should not be possible, by mistake or intentional, to load a nuke on a plane without that being recorded and known before the plane starts. What if someone loaded the nukes on there intentionally with some buddies around to shoot the plane and secure the nukes? By the time you find out that you had a mole one or two cities could have been nuked already!
Well, what kind of proof do you have that builders built the house you are sitting in?
I don't have specific evidence but since I've witnessed the act of constructing a house I have reason to assume my house was created in the same way. Neither I nor any source that is credible has witnessed anything that would provide a reason to consider the existence of a deity.
Science have a real hard time proving that god doesn't exist or exist for that matter. A prudent man is at least agnostic:)
I still think it's silly to argue whether gods exist because we don't even have anything that would warrant the discussion. I mean, noone expects science to figure out whether Santa Claus exists because we have no reason to consider that he might exist outside of fairy tales. Taking a stance on the "God" issue is already giving it more credibility than it should have, after all we don't have long debates about whether the FSM or invisible pink unicorn exists because we have no reason to. Why even debate a concept like "God"? What made anyone think that it might have any relation with reality?
I bet Gundam will happen soon enough, much to the dismay of anyone who liked the show.
Sounds just like almost every anime ever made.

Streetlights protect you from the dogshit that's everywhere these days.
How else are you going to get internet when out of WiFi range?
(oh, right, going outside means turning your geek card in, I forgot)

Isn't capitalism a dogma, too? Or at least a central piece of a dogma that proclaims a free market knows no wrongs?
I recall reviewers complaining about a shitty framerate, too.
If it isn't, cancel. Go without. A cell phone is not a NEED. FOOD is a need; a cell phone is a WANT.
Yeah unless your job involves them. You won't be paying directly but since your job pays for them they get money anyway.

But we're still in Iraq, didn't they promised to get us out?
Forget it, you aren't leaving until you fix what you broke, no matter what the elected idiots at home tell you.

I'm fairly sure rendering [alt text] takes a few cycles.
Using the PC browser to advertise the embedded systems version of Opera that's found on several cellphones and the latest Nintendo hardware.
From what I've seen the speed rankings in all tests always have Opera and Safari leading with IE and FF being behind.

Well, both parties together form this administration.
Judging by his performance neither can Keanu Reeves.

Yep, unless Sony Computer Entertainment America is involved which adds
e) The game is either 3d or sold at a reduced price/part of a compilation.

It's more about Dangerous Vaults level crap or most of those "christian" videogames.
To get at least some sales from people who don't buy one of their products?
