Look at the differences between SMB1-SMW. You would have to be on crack to say that 2 is a rehash of the first.

Depends on which one you are talking about. The game released in the US as SMB2 was a different game rebranded to be a Mario Bros game, the "real" SMB 2 was known as Lost Levels in the west, it was indeed a rehash of SMB.

Actually the rain forest is mostly burned down in order to gain farmland (because exploitative farming makes the ground infertile after a few farming cycles). If they just chopped the trees down and buried the wood or used it to build stuff at least the carbon bound in the trees wouldn't be released into the atmosphere again. But they burn down the foliage so that adds to the CO2 emissions. I think the forest area lost to lumbering is actually quite insignificant compared to the loss caused by those expanding farmlands.

470MHz was the fastest speed at which the tested stick remained reliable. The manufacturer only said that it would take 333MHz. It's closer to the Big Mac being advertised with two tomatoes and one tester getting four tomatoes on a testing sample and complaining that a second, randomly picked Big Mac has only 3 tomatoes on it.

Or, to stay with PC hardware, often the lower spec graphics cards are just highend cards with some features disabled, sometimes those disabled features still work and sometimes they are defective (and the card put into the cheaper line because of that). Now a reviewer gets a fully operational card and manages to reenable the disabled features. Then he buys another card and gets one that's slightly defective so upon enabling those features the card doesn't work properly. We're arguing about things way past the advertised featureset here, false advertising only comes into play if these things routinely performed worse than the performance claimed by the manufacturer.

Since the variations in the sticks are random there's no way of knowing whether the stick was really pre selected or just a lucky draw. The comparison stick bought from the store might have been extraordinarily bad or just average. The real problem this exposes is the testimg method of picking one stick and testing it. What if you got a dud instead and told everyone that stick can't be overclocked at all? Wouldn't be the average experience, either.

    Destruction Desire (fighting game)
    Mind Arms (fighting game)
    Galax (Shmup)

    Every Extend (kamikaze'em up)

Since games take over the whole computer anyway, rebooting to play games is just about the same - it's pretty easy to see a future where for most people, Windows is a virtual XBox of sorts and everything else is done on the Mac.

Rebooting takes a LOT more time than launching a game. Especially when it's the kind of game you play like 15 minutes a session. Or if you're like me and like to mod your games, then you need your mod tools and games to run at the same time.

Sounds right to me. I wouldn't buy a new system that'd end up forcing me to reboot if I want to access the other half of my applications (and the way it is now I wouldn't boot into OSX in first place). Hell, if I wanted dualbooting there's enough Linux distros for every taste and those don't require completely new hardware to run on. Until I can run all of the applications I use on the same OS I'm not switching.
