I don't know enough about Ruby to say anything positive or negative about it. I was just commenting on Python because that's what I know - it's just funny to hear people moan and whine about similar things, which I've heard re. Python. And the quote "Ruby adds nothing to the existing languages" is harsh, C certainly got slapped around in its early days. Who needs to get slapped around more now and kicked off the bus (or at least charged for taking up two seats) is Java.
You are more likely to "shoot yourself in the foot" so to speak and code can get unmanageable.
In short given too much flexibility you can make the language so different than the norm. 10 people with 10 different styles writing Ruby code on a 2+ year project...come back after a 6 month break take a look and you got a big mess on your hands:) Style guides help there but still.
Bottom line and not just ruby avoid getting "cute" with the language. I got berated by a college prof. because I thought it was a good idea in C++ to overload the ++, -- operators on a stack class to do push and pop! He asked sarcastically why stop with just ++ and --?

Well 1,270 were made between 2004-2007 and 604 were sold in the U.S.
So just looking at the four people who died in the U.S. (that I know of): 2 in the accident with Paul Walker and 2 in the 2006 crash out of 604 cars that's pretty high. Also not everyone can afford $500k+ car, those who do tend to be known in some fashion.
These cars are temperamental, twitchy, and unsafe maybe one of the reasons Porsche stopped making them. If you want a fast Porsche get the 991 Turbo S, albeit not as pretty.
Stability control saves lives, know what Porsche's PSM stands for? Please Save Me. The non GT Carrera's i.e. the 911's all have stability control and even though there is a button to turn it off it is not completely disengaged.
These cars need stability control, this is a huge mess for Porsche. Thank God they don't make these GT's anymore, half of them are gone anyway and when the wreck there's not much left.
I used the patch off an on, left one on overnight - don't do that btw:) If the goal is to quit smoking regular cigarettes and all the ancillary issues of having something on fire near your face, it works.
But...if the end goal is to stop nicotine addiction ECigs is *not* the solution.

Thats true and there is a reason for it. You only have to change one thing in life to conquer addiction and that's "everything"... Something I hear a lot. If you just want to quit drinking (good luck) you don't need the 12 steps or AA, but addiction is such an insidious thing that creeps into every aspect of life that you have no choice but to change "everything".
..Magicking 'money' out of thin air *always* leads to a crash. No exceptions. Just wait and see.
Kind of like the U.S. dollar? Like it or not Bitcoin is here to stay. Whether it will drop/crash is another question - it is a viable currency like it or not, flawed or not.
No malloc()? Interesting, I worked on a project at NG and we had same policy. Everything was on the stack or global. We had the chance to run with Monta Vista embedded Linux but someone higher up decided to go with "tried and true" VxWorks. I agree with a poster above about re-training costs and all that adding up.. but if embedded linux became standard with big companies I don't think it would take too long to make-up the costs of re-training and all the other stuff that goes with it.
ABOUT fargin TIME I've been waiting years for this. The directors cut sucked IMO, Harrison Ford's narration is part of the movie and gave it that eerie dark, bleak rainy future.

But did you know you can add braces using the future module?
Next major release of Python will include braces, so you can get ready by doing this in your code:

EQ1 had something other MMORPG's lack: element of danger and fear. And it was challenging!
You could be proud that you had a high level character.
It's not out yet but looks promising. What is missing from WoW, and I'm a long term player, is an element of danger.
I remember playing EQ1 when it first came out, it was sometimes frustrating but kept your heart pounding.

As a full time Python developer for going on 6 years this is good to hear! Now if we can get a Python-lite to replace Javascript in the browser.
