  1. ps2 evolution on Octopiler to Ease Use of Cell Processor · · Score: 1

The PS2 had a MIPS 5900R as main, and as co two FPUs and two vector units. Isn't the cell just a continuance of that 'application specific' way of thinking. I think that with Blue Gene IBM finaly nailed the network part. That's why the Cell is called 'the Cell Broadband Engine'. Classical scaling killed of moores law a 3-4 years ago, and this and/or more cache on processors is the respons.

The deregulation in sweden is a mixed success, on the broadband side of things, things could not be better,
100mbit FiberLan is now 25$-30$ depending on where you live, and 8/12/24Mbit ADSL is 20/40/50$ a month. And one of the two options is available to 80% of the swedish population. Or as some guy said in the 2600 mag a while back, if you are in the warez scene, you either have a server at a university/isp, or know someone in sweden ;)

The Swedish deregulation of the power grid failed, since three large corporations own all of sweden's nuclear powerplants, and the hydroelectric power companies are to small and divided. Prices have risen on average 50-60%, I don't think they are as high as in the states, but a lot higher then before. 0.05-0.1$/kWh is around where it's at now and before the deregulation the price where around 0.02-0.04$/kWh. So now naturally profits have dubbled/trippled for the three corps. that now is in this 'three divided monopoly position'.

We don't know to what make of it, since we have had so many markets that have growned enormously after deregulation, the telecom market with ericsson, and our scandinavian neighbour finland with Nokia, which deregulated about the same time. And the deregulation of the defence industry, sweden now being the biggest per capita exporter of arms in the world -I don't know if that is a success, or a failure. Almost all of the artillery radar units that now is stationed in Iraq is swedish.

Sorry in advance for any borked english ;)

take a seat lad, I think this will come as shock to you; but we spied on the reds, and got a DC 10 shot down, cause we are in bed with the americans. And we have been doing it since world war 2, when shipping iron to germany didn't do us any good no more. They are our biggest trading partner and ally. In the real world neutrality does not exist. Sweden has the largest arms export per capita in the world, and sent lots and lots of ericsson equipment to aid the us operations in iraq. And just a couple of months ago, we let american special forces bag a guy, and fly him to egypt for torture, neo-con style. see -> http://hrw.org/english/docs/2004/05/27/sweden8621. htm

The EU isn't a republic, it's not supposed to have a ruling parliament, the party elected official with majority votes from each nation is supposed to rule. It's not undemocratic, since we haven't agreed on a 'republic style democracy'. Now we are more in a club for rich nations, trying to create a strong free trade zone, jada jada jada.. With a trade framework which enables this, and that's when these things happen... this time, the smaller/poorer nations lost... like the did before 2002 something.. Isn't there a list with nations that where pro software patents, I know my nation where, Sweden, one quick call to Ericsson, and the liberal socialist government where convinced.
