    Oh no, the problem is far worse. People might download movies, tv shows and music that Bell has exclusive rights to distribute in Canada. This will affect their income and we can't have that.

    I just installed windows 10 under virtualbox. Once I installed what I needed, I set it to "host-only" networking. That's how you secure a windows box: keep it off of the internet.

    They have to pay for the Language Police with something. It's a very important government service to deny people the right to use english, which the most commonly used Language in Canada and one of our official languages.

    It's a lot cheaper to get a degree when tuition is only a couple of thousand per term and you only have to take transit from your parent's multi-million dollar, 70 year old vancouver special.

  19. I live in Vancouver. I hate it. Looking at the rest of the country, it isn't much better.

    If I ever have kids, I'll be pushing them to get master's degrees so they can get mobile out of this country to places where they can actually make some money and have it go somewhere, like towards owning a home or having a decent retirement somewhere where it stays warm and sunny year round.

    I'm more concerned about the trend to https-only on the internet. Eventually the only ports open will be 53 and 443. At that point, the internet will be silo'd into a consumer-only model just like cable TV. I think you can imagine what will happen past that.

  24. I'm hearing a lot of excuses. (insert whiny voice) "oh, I'm too short. It's all old people. it's boring..." My Dad would STILL smack me if I said something like that today, and we've got 25 years between us and my teenage years.

    If you don't want to go to the park, then go hiking in the mountains. Anything so I don't have to listen to the whining.
