    Sorry, but if Samsung had prior art to invalidate Apple's patents they should have filed a Reexamination request as soon as they got sued. Putting things in front of a jury is always a crap shoot. Judges rarely overturn juries unless there is clear misconduct. Not likely here. They have a shot at getting the damages reduced.

    It appears that the New Zealand SWAT team is like the SWAT teams in so many backwater U.S. jurisdictions. They might get some kind of real hostage situation once a year. Therefore they have to justify their expensive existence by smashing down the doors of non violent minor offenders.

    Just for the record, countries have claimed to own (at least parts of) the ocean for centuries. It just depends on what's in it. It used to be fish, now it's oil.

    Here in Northern Virginia it's been the hottest summer I can think of. Two weeks of 95+ and at least 5 days over 100. The weird thing is the low humidity. All of the really hot days were around 30% humidity which is unheard of here. Normal is 50% and above. As a liberal I certainly wouldn't say this is due to global warming. I'm just saying it's weird, and I'm used to absurdly hot humid summers.
