I agree on almost nothing with GReenpeace, expet their stance on genetic stuff. Although for different reasons. Look into what Monsanto is doing and THAT will be the real issue.
OK, I think of Houston and it's suburbs. So why do I not see an article where it says that Houston and it Suburbs are 100% green over a 3 month period.
And do not look ONLY at dams, look at a combination of different sources. Solar, water, wind, reduction in usage by i.e changing the way buildings are made, people and goods are transported and a lot of other things.
And perhaps they are not even in the US. If you can prank call somebody from within the US, how hard can it be to do that from any other country in the world?
I will sit back and see how this is not possible in the USofA. OTOH Renewable energy is not something new. Look at the Hooverdam. And there is dessert enough available to put a LOT of sun collectors.
The real issue is that this will require investment in research and that means not making a profit in the next 3 years, which is about the duration of how far a CXO looks.
What they have in the USofA are not really unions. At most they are guild. In Belgium, you can join any of several unions. Basically there are three to choose from and those then have sub-divisions per industry. Some smaller are limited to only one (large) company.
In no way will you be forced to join one and in no way will it affect your chance of employment. It will also not affect your rights as an emplyee.
The main difference between joining and not are (unless you are a representative of the union and work, than you DO have different rights) is that you get your unemplyemnet benefits much easier when you are entitled to them and they can give you legal advice. Also if you want to join a strike, they will pay you for the loss in pay.
I pay about 8EUR per month. My employers NEVER asked me or even shown interest if I was in a Union or not. When I was in a position where I lead people and hire them I was NEVER interested if they were union or not.
The talks that happen between companies and unions are in general pretty lame. They talk about having a bigger space to have lunch. They talk about the temperature of the offices and how vacation should be more (or less) flexible.
Once in a while they will ask for more money and that is what you read in the papers.
Some people say they have to much power, but also re,member where we came from: a situartion where the rich exploited the poor. Working illegal long hours and not paying for overtime. Getting away with paying less than what was legaly allowed and what not.
I think these socialist unions are the culprit of the teachers and our future. Next you know they are on the same level as e.g. Finland and actualy TEACH people things.
If it is illegal, then individuals within that organization can be prosecuted.
It is irrelevant if they CAN be prosecuted. It only matters if they WILL be prosecuted AND convicted. Untill now that has never happend. (Unless they were wistleblowers)
People DIE because they do not have enough experience. I clearly know the difference how I was driving when I just had a licence and 2 years later.
Having a speed limiter would have been a lot safer for others on the road. Those two first years I was dangerous. After two tyears I had enough experience AND enough wisdom to not speed that much. And I do not mind that the driver hits a tree. That is just bad luck for the family and friends.
And I learned driving shift in Europe with a teacher. From what I hear from American friends, it is a multitude better then what you get in the USofA. After 20 hours I had my drivers licence and I thought I could drive. After 20 hours you DO NOT have the experience to react correctly in all situations. You do not have the exprience to know how your car will react. You do not have a quick insight into traffic situations. You will oversee things that are obvious to more experienced drivers.
I was lucky enough to 'only' drive into a house because I was speeding. Lot of money I had to pay and a great lesson.
Slowing down (to the legal limit) is a must. However when you are 18, you think that you will live forever. You think you know everything. That combined with the ability to drive fast is deadly. Being forced to drive slower in moms car will save lives. It will also give them time to get the experience to learn and then when they are older have more experince and will react better in different situations.
That does not mean they will suddenly drive slow. I know peole who are in their 60-ies and speed and drive drunk.
What it does is not stop making assholes, it just helps build experience at a safer speed.
Not only that, there are already tons of restrictions in how to build a house in many places. How high, how big, how strong. Those are just a few that will apply in many places.
And can imagine this being extended in the future to first cities and later the rest and perhaps even existing buildings.
If I look at cities from above, all I see is a lot of space that could be turned green. Garden places that are not used.
That is why almost no country has mandatory voting. They have mandatory showing up. The way it was explained to me was that as a citizen you have rights, but you also have duties. Showing up for the elections is one of those duties.
And by law you can even be asked to sit in on these and do your duty.
In Belgium it is always on Sunday. Voting does not take a whole day, so people who work on that day can still vote. However of those many will see that they have a letter from their company saying they have to work, so they don't need to vote. The same for those who travel: give proof and no need to go and vote, while there are other alternatives to those who insist on voting and are unable to (e.g. if you are in hospital)
I live in Belgium where voting is mandatory. I have lived in the Netherlands where it isn't.
Both have advantages and disadvantages. I think the real issue in the US is that there is no real choice, except for the academic one. No matter how you vote: damned if you do. damned if you don't.
In many places there are no tokens. The reason they are cheaper is because they are undercutting the laws, not because that add extra cost.
It is like being a place that sells food, but you do not comply by the laws by saying you are 'a place to eat' and not 'a restaurant' and thus not need to follow any laws at all.
I believe learning a language is more about attitude and need. When I see English speakers in Belgium, they have huge problems learning Dutch or French, because everybody speaks better English they they do Dutch (or French).
While when I was in Buenes Aires several years ago, as nobody spoke any English, I was forced to learn Spanish very quickly. In 4 weeks I was able to speak enough Spanish to order food and being able to explain where I lived and other vary basic conversations.
I have seen this with others as well.
And then there are the English speakers who do not WANT to learn any other language.
Speaking a language and understanding have different levels. I once was told these were the levels: 1) Using bad words and ordering beer (and food) 2) Explaining who you are and what you do. Simple conversation. 3) Reading a newspaper (as they are written for everybody to read) 4) Having a complex conversation 5) Understanding the language jokes
Obviously this is not set in stone, but I think it is a good indication on where you are.
I have them as well. No complains at a good price. I could go cheaper, but looking for one would probably cost me more.
To the original poster: I would NOT do registry together with webhosting. If you have an issue with your webhoster, they could hold your deomain hostage. What I have done in the past with an issue was just direct my domain elsewere. New nameservers and done.
And if you have issues with your DNS provider, transfer and done.

Compared to the rest of the world, the Democrats ARE right-wing right now.
Greenpeace IS a company.

When I was a kid, I had no say as to what I wanted. Sit still an be silent. Nobody cared what I wanted.
No I would not even get something to paint with. And yes, those were real restaurants, not visits to the local burger joint.
When I look back, I am a better person thanks to that. My parents are my friends now, but not when I was a kid. They were my parents.

We must have consumers, not thinkers.
The truly funny part is that men wanted absolutely nothing to do with computers until there was money to be made.
(Is that more or less sexist?)
The most sexual offensive jokes I receive in the office are from women.
It is irrelevant if they CAN be prosecuted. It only matters if they WILL be prosecuted AND convicted. Untill now that has never happend. (Unless they were wistleblowers)

Yeahm because we should never change anything after 50+ years no matter the reason or logic or development.
Do as I say, not as I do.
Well, vote for the other one next time and see if that makes a difference. It is a tried method that has been done over several decades.
Well, It has been tried and the outcome has been the same every time. But THIS time there wil REALLY be a difference and things will be better.
