  1. Chack the mailbox on Who Runs RIAA's Settlement Information Center? · · Score: 1

The orginal story to this. there it is said to be MediaDefender.

I browsed somewhat through it (did a mgrep on slashdot and such things) and saw that they talked about changeing IP's on a regular basis. So download the mbox and start reading.

  2. Listen to your female friend on Party Ideas For Math Nerds? · · Score: 1

She wanted to trow such a party and decided against it, because it wouldn't work. To have a party, you need party-people, not just people. Ask people who like to party what they like. They will anser with the words of the famout Frank Zappa: 'Titties and beer'.

Perhaps what you want is not so much a party but a gathering (perhaps with alcohol). Not entirely the same thing.

I know I would not be interested in any themed party. Even the toga parties I went to in my time I only went because of the girls and the alcohol, not because of the theme. Take away the theme and you still have a party. Take away the party and you have a bunch of idiots.

So drop the theme, have a party, socialize and keep the 'wouldn't it be great if we would have a party where everybody dresses like ...' to a nice thought of 5 minutes during that socializing, because if you realy think about it, it is nice to see in a movie, but crap in reality, just as your friend already figured out.

If I buy a CD and I put it in my PC, I will be able to access it through ssh and thus it is online. So even though nobody else can access it, it is a CD I bought I am not able to put the CD in my machine, because it is connected to the Interwebs.

Important to me means hospital or death and the first only if it is really serious.

My family and friends know not to call me during working hours and I do not call them during working hours. Some of them have varying hours, and the first question I ask when calling them is "Just calling because of XYZ. Do you have time now?"
