I've pondered for a lot longer and can't think of any. Could you please give me some examples?

  2. Re:Sounds like Windows, actually on Examining Mac OS X 10.4's Spotlight · · Score: 5, Informative

People who have used it report no performance degredation. And no, its nothing like Windows search, which Mac OS has also had since System 8 or earlier.

For one, it doesn't take half an hour, it shows you the results as you type, instantaneously.

Secondly, via plugins it can understand *any* file, such as an image metadata importer that uses OCR so you can search for words, or a Flesh-tone detector so you can search for all your porn that way.

In Internet Explorer, if you right click on the link and Copy Shortcut, then paste the link into the address bar, then click just to the right of the quote, you can delete it. Press enter and the correct page should load. I don't know about any other browsers though, I tried it in Safari and it didn't work :(

You've got to be joking. Lossless compression might ensure the same bits get through, but what about jitter? I'm sorry, but speaking as someone who works in the audio industry, the difference between WAV and something like FLAC is painfully obvious to trained ears. Reduction of clarity and presence, squashed dynamics and total removal of the listener from the soundstage. Unfuckingbelievable.

  6. Re: "Administration" Password Problem... on 'Opener' Malware Targets OS X · · Score: -1

I think the best solution for this would be to have a seperate file owned by System that listed a user-specified 'keyword' for each user. When the system displays an Authentication dialog, it displays that user's keyword also. That way the Auth dialog cannot be faked, because you can't find out what the keyword is without being system.

Effectively, the authorisation dialog has to 'authorise' itself with the user, before the user authorises themselves.

Why the hell would Apple want to give students their next unreleased OS, especially when students are known for being poor, tight-fisted cunts who would immediately put Tiger up on P2P and ruin it for everyone? Why? Twat.

It being a webserver is the least of your worries. My department just bought 30 of them for running controlling complex equipment, and let me tell you this: none of them work.

I examined them and they are all flawed. Missing resistors, back to front diodes, tracks that lead nowhere, these are certainly budget components. The Linux distro's we are forced to use are flakey enough without having to be run on systems that could have been made my aids-riddled monkeys.

1 in 10? Now I dont know wether I have high standards or I'm just an shitty photographer. I always have postview on, and when I take a photo maybe 1 in 4 photo's make it past postview and onto the memory card. Eventually I copy all the photos onto my computer, and delete at least 2/3s of those. Then I fix em up in Photoshop, and delete another 1/3. Of those that are left, and I consider worth keeping, just maybe 1 in 10 are worth printing! Thats about 1 in 200 photos!
