The is one and only one correct behaviour: 32-unsigned 0 minus 32-unsigned 1 = ArithmeticException — which is perfectly CPU independent. Obviously Gosling did not think far enough.
Did you notice that none of the big corporation E-Mail clients supports PGP out of the box? And at least Apple Mail breaks the PGP plugin on a regular basis.
I always suspected the governments pressurising the corporation not to add PGP.
Not just America. Same for Europe (Germany, France in particular). Here the neo-liberals imported cheap labour from neighbouring countries and spoiled it all — but for the 5% that is.
Very true indeed. However, what is often overlooked is that there is a cost to not upgrading as well. The hidden cost of lost opportunities. But as I said: a hidden cost not showing up on the balance sheets.
If your Lastpass DB is corrupted, goodbye passwords.
The Lastpass DB is stored in the cloud and is synced over several devices. Pretty unlikely.
And before you say it: The Lastpass DB is Client site encrypted using the master password. So the master password is something I know and all the other “passwords” are indeed now token.
So what. Feel good for the US? The EU cars are still more efficient then the US cards. Even when there are from the same car manufacture. Which is far more interesting: Same manufacture says that new US laws are to tough while at the same time selling cars in Europe which fulfil the new law for 10+ years.
Not that slow. Most CPUs do that out of the box employing an overflow or carry flag.

Let me quote the title: “Ask Slashdot: Preventing Snowden-Style Security Breaches?”

It already is a PATRIOTic corporate-fascist police state.
The OP was only asking about “Snowden-Style Security Breaches” — So for the problem at hand it is good enough.
Of course security breaches in general can not be prevented as the you correctly pointed out.
You nailed the problem on the head. And that is why “don't do evil” is in fact the only feasible way to prevent whistleblowers.
It is very simple: If you don't break the law, if you don't do evil then no whistleblower can blow the whistle on you.
I know I am not the first to say this but I think this message can not be hammered in enough: Don't do evil.
I have Cat7 fitted to my home. And in the last one as well. Not everybody is unprepared for the future.
You would not to loose you that little extra income...
post-WW2 America

… don't buy WD drives!

No video ever plays automatically on in my browser as plug-ins are configured “click to play” — But then again, i do fear the day … goes mainstream.
PS: Reloading the page (and making the poster loose the posting) after changing the config is very evil indeed.
for example, randomly select a length, then randomly generate a password
Because then users will write them down. As they say in mechanics: After very tight comes very loose. (as in: the screw breaks off).

or Mac OS X which even has a guest account preconfigured. Best of it: The guest account gets completely wiped at logout.
It is just one more example on how M$ screws us all. Because Windows could provide guest accounts as well.
Another *not* surprise.
At least for those who know the difference between the Mobipocket and #Kindle DRM.
What to know: Just one byte the type flag is different. That is all. And now consider that Amazon owns Mobipocket.
And last Previewnot least: Mobipocket DRM was already cracked when Amazon bought Mobipocket.
Probably because free is not gratis (lat. grtia => for a thank you) . Free usually is a trick.
Only 0/0 is undefined and not infinitive.

I already have a reflex to mute the TV as soon as the commercials start.
Do you really thing you can survive on a lonely island, without the industrial supplements and processed food like tofu. On a vegan diat only?
One has to wonder how "Christians" would react had someone made a movie implying that Jesus was a pedo...
Well, current studies found that Jesus preferred (wealthy) widows — a group of women which tend to be not under aged.
