slashdot is on a roll. Once again totaly useless info. This was patented a long time ago as im sure others have already posted. So is this News or stuff that matters? Seriously.
Surely there is a better source of news for nerds. Slashdot should be re-titled to "Questions from idiots/Old stuff from other sites"
With the number of people here and the advertising $ they bring in; surely they can afford at least one competent editor. Editors do a lot more than grammar checking you know. And even that is asking too much apparently.
Why do so many people congregate here? Is there really nothing else out there?
ok flame away...
Most people are not even aware of them but buildnet.com burned 2 billion in 12 months with nothing to show for it. They swallowed up about a hundred small companies and took them down also. I and the company I worked for came out ok. We delivered a contracted software product to them just months before they collapsed and by some miracle we got paid!
I was simply stating for the moronic parent that when a company "dies" its assets, whatever they may be, are usually sold. And yes everything down to the last swingline stapler will be sold, most likely at auction.
I don't have a degree. But seriously just what does having that piece of paper mean in an industry that can change many times a year. Turning all the crap you wasted time studying into a bunch of "back in the day" stories for the younger crowd; which can be a 20 year old talking to an 18 year old.
Actually Cisco is updating their IOS to give voice packets priority. This is probably an optional thing but from the way our ISP was talking its going to be implemented everywhere even on the big backbone routers.
http://www.neoware.com/ those nifty but expensive boxes run linux and connect to just about anything.. TS VNC CITRIX and a few others I think. We use 2 of them as kiosks in our sales office.
Yes I freely admit my technique sucked. I used a full length router bit (made for wood) and actually cut ALL the way through the pumpkin. It was a great effect but was not needed at all. And maybe I didnt need the full 30K RPMs.
Been there Done that.. WONT do it again!

I used my dremel tool to carve a pumpkin 3 years ago. I wish I could find the pics to post. Let me give you some advice. DONT DO IT. And if you do: DO IT OUTSIDE. I tried to be good and I set up some large boxes on either side of the pumpkin to catch the inevitable orange spray. I was pleased with the result of my pumpkin but my entire kitchen looked like it had been airbrushed with pumpkin paint or something. My wife was not amused. But my kids loved it. Grr if I could only find a pic. It was a cat's face and the dremel allowed me to cut some very intricate details like whiskers!
Actualy that is close. Each vonage unit supports 2 lines so its 8 devices. We put up a litte shelf for them in our telco closet. Vonage does not have a "real business service" as you describe it. We didnt have to make any adjustments in our case. We had a bunch of analog CO lines coming in and we replaced them. We have a single cable going from the vonage shelf to the punch block. We have a good relationship with our phone guys and they set things up so when our numbers ported all we had to do was yank 2 connectors and plug 2 different ones in that were wired for thew new vonage circuits. We were unfortunatly unable to do anything about our DID circuit which we have been unable to convince McCleoud USA that not only is the circuit not a T1 but its also not in the city they think its in. Bunch of dumb-asses over there. But we aslo only use our DID for faxes.

I am a vonage user. Most of my friends, family, coworkers, businesses I deal with etc.. are not uber geeks and do not wish to be forced to communicate with me in some strange and unusual way (IM, computer phones, proprietary sip services etc.) With vonage they pick up their phone, dial my number and we communicate. Anyone out there on traditional phone lines can reach me without any inconvienience to them. And it costs me very little compared to the same service from those traditional phone lines. You dont seem to live in the real world or at least communicate in it. At work we have completely switched our phone lines to vonage. 15 lines!. We have a 100MB internet connection so we dont even feel the lost bandwidth but we save over $2000 per month! and our customers have no clue. in fact most of the employees are unaware of the switch. To me that says it all. My only complaint is vonage limits a "company" account to 10 lines so we had to set up 2 accounts. And that is very minor.
Its not magic fallout.. sheesh.. its over 3000 miles to Alaska, over 4000 miles to Hawaii and over 5000 miles to the west coast. Fallout is not quite this mobile. example from http://www.cddc.vt.edu/host/atomic/nukeffct/enw77b 1.htm
From the 15-megaton thermonuclear device tested at Bikini Atoll on March 1, 1954--the BRAVO shot of Operation CASTLE--the fallout caused substantial contamination over an area of more than 7,000 square miles. The contaminated region was roughly cigar-shaped and extended more than 20 statute miles upwind and over 350 miles downwind. The width in the crosswind direction was variable, the maximum being over 60 miles ( 9.104).

But the price has apparently gone up over the years. I paid 24.99 +s/h from some oddball yahoo shopping store. It is not safe to be in a room full of ozone. Used with normal ventilation most people dont have a problem but it can irritate the throat and lungs in concentration. But we are talking about shock treating equipment in a controlled environment so I dont think that should be a problem for you. Just vent the room out before you hang out in there. The treatment room should be as air tight as possible and have a fan running to stir things up. Ozone is heavier than air and in a still room will just sink.
something that can make sense of the voynich manuscript http://www.voynich.nu/. They should have tested their system on it.

So commenting on the stupidity of the article is off topic. LOL slashdot is good for laughs I give you that.

you are just another one of those 50 icons on the desktop idiots. How would you launch your programs if they went away?
