I'd been having intermittent graphics faults (i.e PC crashing hard whenever an OpenGL app was running) for the past few weeks, and being a normal techie I assumed that it was the graphics card. So I make arrangements to get a new one.
Apparently, it wasn't the graphics card, it was the motherboard, which in the middle of a new fucking Gentoo install blew, taking the processor with it. Graphics card still works, mind you.
I hate my computer. This was on Saturday by the way, at about 5AM. It sucks.
Sorry to say that, but it is, and anybody who needs to install it to do their job is insane. It's unstable, and it's basically an invitation to get pwned.
I used to use the FF0.8 installer version fine on a 2K/XP setup at my school, using an extremely unpriveleged account (the only way you could delete files clogging your own profile dir was downloading and installing MinGW and using it to blitz it! Insane).
Time, because it's just damn brilliant. Private Eye because it's the best satire going. Linux User And Developer because they have full distros on their coverdiscs-last one I got was full SuSE 9.0:)
If Microsoft is willing to open up its technologies and allow others to use them, then I see no problem with that. It isn't automatically part of a massive War on Linux.
Avoid the knee-jerk reactions, this could be a very good thing.
I believe that Michael Moore is to left-wing/democrats what Ann Coulter is to the ring-wing/republicans. Except one is a small fat guy with beard and the other... isn't
