I go to a major university in the midwest that has a very good engineering program, but the CS department is in the College of Science. I recently found the statistics on my school's career center website for average salaries of graduates in either 2004 or 2005 (I forget which year exactly). To my surprise, CS bachelor graduates had the highest average salary amongst all other majors, and it's not even the school's major strength!
I can also personally attribute to this fact. I'm a junior in CS w/a low GPA. I recently got an internship offer w/a major corporation for this coming summer. I have 3 friends who have GPAs > 3.6 in chemical, electrical, and biomedical engineering. The chemE couldn't find anything for this summer. The biomed and EE got internship offers, but I'm going to be getting paid more than them.
It still doesn't make sense to me how I'm getting paid more than 3 engineers w/amazing GPAs, while I'm sitting here w/my crappy grades, especially at a school where engineering is the focus.
My point? If you're in CS and absolutely love it, but are having 2nd thoughts b/c you feel the market is weak, don't change majors, b/c whatever fears you have about the market are just simply untrue.
Recent declining popularity of baseball? How about you try to know what you're talking about? Total MLB attendance for 2005 was an all-time record with 74,915,268. The previous record for attendance was last year with 73,022,969. I highly doubt those numbers are a result of a declining popularity in baseball.
As bad as G4 is, you still have to give props to X-Play. Their reviews of video games are always about showing the game for what it really is. Very rarely, they give games 5/5 ratings, let alone 4/5 ratings. And the ones they give 3/5, they chew out like no other on what it lacked. And besides, you gotta admit that Morgan Webb is freakin hot,;)
I went Black Friday shopping about 2-3 years ago, and at that time, the rebates said something like what you alluded to. However, this year, I went Black Friday shopping again. For the items I purchased from OfficeMax, each of the rebate receipts were supplied separately for each item. Some of them had 2 rebates i.e. one to the manufacturer and one to the retailer. The manufacturer required the original UPC and to my pleasant surprise, the retailer rebate said that a copy of the UPC was acceptable. I agree that sending in rebates is becoming easier. They never used to print the rebates w/your receipts. It always used to be separate "coupons" that were associated w/the item.
I wasn't saying anything about putting this issue into store policies. You're right about that, though. I'm just saying it's wrong and dishonest to buy something with the intention of returning it. Just like the example I gave above.
There is nothing wrong with buying the projector and THEN deciding later that you want to return it within the time period the store allows. The problem and the point the grandparent is trying to make is that his friend bought the projector with the INTENT of returning it.
You're looking at the item in the store and it's expensive but you only need it for a day, then you say to yourself "Oh. You know what? I'll just buy it today, use it tonight, and return it tomorrow." That is just as wrong as the whole "buy and swap" method.
All you have to do is convert each character to its corresponding ASCII number and then XOR it with a value of your choice. If you XOR the result, you'll get the original character. For those that don't know, XOR is exclusive OR.

Personally, I think some of you need to lay off the Madden series just a bit. Don't get me wrong, I agree EA is an evil company, but the last 2 Madden games have been absolutely great, and in my opinion, much better than the ESPN series. With each play, there are so many different combinations of player assignments and formation changes that are possible whether you are on offense or defense. ESPN does not offer the same level of chess-game-like tactics as Madden does.(ESPN still has them, just not as much.)
I would say that there is vast improvement over the Madden series every year, especially the last 2. ESPN, by no means, blows Madden out of the water. Maybe with the exception of the $20 price tag,;). ESPN may be better value, but it wasn't the better game. Although, maybe the competition w/Sega is what fueled Madden to be that good. There's a good possibility that this will cause EA Sports' developers to be a little lax on improving this year's version of Madden.
On the 2nd floor of our house, we have our 2.4 ghz wireless router and a 2.4 ghz phone. I always hear interference on the phone when I use it, but who knows, the phone could just be crappy.
