If you're still interested in contributing to Thunderbird development, especially to improve its UX, then the “parity with Postbox” meta-bug would be a good place to start.

Cleartype grade font rendering, better hardware driver support (it's close now), and colour space aware apps/gui's.
Font rendering is the main barrier to making it my full-time OS now.
With the latest development version of AdBlock Plus it works just fine (in WinXP). Populates the filter dialog box when you select "adblock image" from the context menu. Of course you have to change the max-version in the install.rdf file.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the ability to have anti-aliased fonts is already there and most people consider it superior to Microsoft's offering.
I strongly suspect they don't. The only places I have heard this are on slashdot and linux forums. Freetype etc are constrained by MS and Apple's patents on hinting technologies etc. I have applied the patches that violate these patents and improved the rendering, but it still leaves a lot to be desired. Also note that you can tune cleartype quite a lot with the appropriate XP power tool.
Adobe does indeed have a good AA algorithm. I have found (tuned) cleartype to be the best for small font sizes however.
The most recent version of Java has sub-pixel rendering libraries that are supposed to be good. I will be interested to see if they are exploited.
This is a manifestation of it as well as the aim of this. How on earth did this progress so far, and what was it's origin?
30 years as an age limit? Is this unprecedented? And why wasn't it laughed out on its ass before it could even make it to the press.
Hmm, the "type ahead find feature" (i.e. search for text in page with the bar that appears at the bottom of the browser) now lacks the find again up and down buttons. Any suggestions?
Please, Bronfman is very far from being "smart." He sold his family's highly profitable liquor brands to buy into the lowly profitable entertainment industry, and I doubt that his new assets have aquired value in that time.
He is just another in a long line of useless hiers who have squandered a fortune in the pursuit of "free" sex.
The cost of mammalian cell tissue culture is enourmous. Sterile conditions, special media, possible use of bovine calf serum (itself an issue of vCJD concern), recombinant cytokines, cell isolation, TCPS vessels. Not to mention the completely unknown issue of taste and texture. I really hope that no chemical engineers were involved in this.
There is already a very cheap, self assembling, self reproducing meat machine known as the cow. I am disgusted by this pathetic example of wasted research time and money. Mycoprotein production would be far more efficient for space flight.
Googled and found a pdf of a contributing "science journalism" masters student's mini-thesis on this. An estimate quoted in the paper is $5 million per kg.

So, will the font rendering technologies patented by MS and Apple now be free to use in freetype/gnome/kde?

Some changes are summarised here: http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2008/05/firefox-3-release-candidate-1-is-here/ . A new version of Cairo (1.6) is used under the hood.

Yeah! 'Cause presenting is a rather uncommon practice for conference attendees. FFS.

BTW, cleartype costs about US$1 to licence per desktop.

That chrome entry fixed it up. Cheers.
OK, according to mozillazine (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Cookies it should work in FF 2.0.
Sorry, that should have been next/previous aswell as the Match case check box etc.
This option has been removed from the privacy UI. Does setting network.cookie.cookieBehavior to 1 in about:config still work in this release?

There are two major differences this time.
(A) People are buying high quality tv's - they were not buying high quality speakers and amplifiers.
(B) The improvement from HD video is much more obvious than with SACD etc.

Anyone have a link?

When will this essesntial feature be implemented? Spell checking for browser text boxes and forms is a must. Opera and IE have it available.
