    You can't call it a bug unless you know what the design intends. What if this program is supposed to continually print "Hello world" over and over forever? Then it is working as intended, by design.

    Look, I don't see a problem with him gambling. *Unless* he bet on war. That would be just a no-no and would go against all established tradition.     Apparently in Ubuntu it's now RALT-SYSRQ-K which I haven't tried. But ALT+SYSRQ+R-E-I-S-U-B works wonders during a hard lockup where CTRL+ALT+F2 doesn't function.

    Another useful one is ALT+SYSRQ+R-E-I-S-E-R which kills the current process.

    The original Surface kickstand already had 2 positions. The kickstand was either "closed" (flush with the device), or "open" (protruding at some angle).

    Look, computers are great as entertainment devices, and with some contortions they can even perform some light mathematical calculations. But they were never designed to add up numbers in the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS. It's unreasonable to expect to solve a task of this complexity using computers. The only hope seems to be some unknown future technology, and that's unlikely to happen be 2014.

    There's no 16-bit code in the 64-bit versions of Windows. 16-bit code requires the NTVDM (virtual DOS machine) to run, and NTVDM is not present in 64-bit Windows. Now 32-bit Windows still has NTVDM, and a handful of old 16-bit command line programs (command.com, edit.com, etc.) are thrown in as well, but none of these are essential to Windows. These are old DOS commands that have been dropped in Windows.

    In fact, had Microsoft seized the initiative then, they could have had a 64 bit version of Windows long before AMD came out w/ x64.

    The already did. They supported the Alpha on Windows NT 4.0 way back in the mid 90s. They also supported Itanium in Windows 2003 before x64 came out.

    How does it compare as a general-purpose desktop PC?

    Looks roughly the same as a general-purpose PC, but scoped down to fewer purposes. It should be compatible with Sony's x86 rootkits however.

    Yes it's a cunning design. But don't fall for all of Shuttleworth's marketing hype, even if he does phrase it very eloquently. He is not only a cunning designer, but a cunning linguist too.
