So what if they scan you? All they get is a number. Something which isnt useful by its self.
As long as the databases using your RFID arent public then noone can identify you just by scanning you. It also has the cool side effect of Minority Report style shops which remember you.
Actually it is that high. The faster you get, the higher the overhead percentage. If the size of the packets scaled with the bandwidth then the overhead percentage would remain constant.
10gbps is around 150,000 packets (9k jumbo packets) per second. 100mbps is 1,500 packets per second (also using jumbo packets). As you can see the overhead increases with the bandwidth.
Your quoting one publication and he is quoting another. Your spreading FUD as much as he is.
While techies may not ever touch protected content, ordinary users certainly will.
Guess who is going to have to clean up this mess and explain why their freshly downloaded (and paid for) movie wont work?
Yep. Us.
Your assuming that someone is watching every camera 24/7. Thats the only way they would catch a innocent person doing those things.
Now if a person is a suspected terrorist then it would be a very good tool for seeing what they are doing.
It cant be used for everyone. Its only useful for specific targets like wanted people and 911 calls.
Uh...That would be the article summary.
This isnt magnetic radiation like wifi or a mobile phone. Its just a standard old electro magnet.
Thats exactly why none of the databases should be interlinked.
If your bank marks you as being dead then it should only affect your bank details.
It starts getting dangerous if organisations can supplement their data about you from other sources especially if it can be done without your consent.
My Uni has gone overboard when it comes to wireless.
We have a access point in every room and two in lecture theatres.
You can get a decent connection half way in to the city!

Creepy yes. Privacy infringing no.
Anyone smart enough to want consumer freedoms isnt stupid enough to become a politician.
Yeah but DRM jacks up the prices causing more people to pirate the content.
You could use it to power your fans! :)
Wow! 24 *byte* video! Amazing!
(Its 24 bits or 3 bytes per pixel not 24 bytes)

Its a bit like the situation in Australia at the moment.
A task force reccomended that we build 25 nuclear reactors.
The greenies are saying that it'll be a environmental disaster.
What would they prefer? 25 coal power plants?
(Just if you dont know, Most of Australia's power is from coal and we have no nuclear)
Ah. Your a ergonomics nut. ;)
Personally I cant stand a flat keyboard.
Mind you I hardly have a ergonomically correct computer setup.
I dont get RSI so I dont care.
Actually typing speed is a rather good measure of how good the programmer is.
I have yet to see a good programmer who cant type quickly.
Practice makes perfect and programmers get a awful lot of typing practice.
Very different. This is police searching for possible suspects out of millions of photos.
They would prefer *not* to see you (if your law abiding).
Police dont walk around blindfolded. I'm sure they make their own decision.
This would just help them narrow down the possibilities.
That argument is awfully similar to GMail scanning your email.
Its a freaking computer! It doesnt give a damn about you.
The problem is they dont keep it simple. Add complexity and the problems start to creep in.
You can get faster electricity? Why didnt anyone tell me?
Dunno but ex-Australian IT Minister Richard Alston didnt know much either. He had the honourable title of 'Worlds Biggest Luddite'.
I open source a lot of my code. It gives you that warm fuzzy feeling inside. :)
Why is this post modded 'Insightful'? It should be modded 'Depressing'.
