Someone beating you up and taking your card is *completely* different to someone going through the dictionary on someone on the other side of the world's facebook account.
You dont need to fear scratching plastic if it is 'textured'.
The base of the N900 is fully plastic (the screen half is actually metal) but its not polished smooth. Its impossible to scratch with anything short of a knife.
As for the screen, it is plastic, but I'd rather that over glass. I can drop it quite badly and it will not break. Its very difficult to scratch but a covering of Clear Coat makes it impossible. And yes I hate screen protectors too - Clear Coat is different.
Usually there will be resolv.conf.head and resolv.conf.tail files somewhere which get stuck at the beginning and end of the generated resolv.conf. That way you get a semi-dynamic and semi-static config.
why do any of them need to persist and be public to other sites?
so I'm ignorant on this subject.
Erm they arent public to other sites?
HTTP has no 'state' information. Two hits from one user could very easily be two separate hits from two separate users. There is no way to know without cookies. You dont exactly want the guy next to you getting logged in to your Twitter account.
Persistent cookies (that stay when you close your browser) are needed for stuff like 'Keep me logged in'. Again, no other possible way to do it without cookies.
It is impossible for Google to see what sites you log in to. The only inkling Google can get is if you happen to Google for 'slashdot' and click on the result to get to the page.
If you sign in your Google Account both at work and at home then that is how it transferred your behaviour over.
And even then, Google has not extracted any personal information from your behaviour, which was my original point. Behaviour yes but not your birth date or anything like that.
I'm not sure what surprises me more. That OpenOffice doesnt fully support rtf files or your wife uses rtf files.
I thought rtf was a horrible yet very simple format.
I also thought it was dead very soon after it was created.
And how much glass is broken on any given day?
If glass was carcinogenic when broken, it too would be illegal to use.
Oh and look! Intel is integrating them in to the CPU!
Who wudda thunk that?

No, Google blew a lot of money on it to gather lots of real voice samples.
They've got them now, so now they have other plans.

Technically yes, but thats 768 megs of accessible ram that most Android devices dont have.
It does actually work exceptionally well. I've had 16 browser windows and a few chat windows open at the same time and its incredibly smooth.
Kind of ironic in a article about Firefox 4 beta coming to Maemo.
The N900 has a gig of ram after all. 50mb ram isnt so much even for (some) mobile devices.

Erm.....and doing it manually with a GUI is better than that how?
At least you can correct the problem and run the script again to fix it.
And why wont someone think of the blind homosexuals?
Yes we do....relatively speaking of course.
Yup they say in TFA that Windows needs a .inf
That must be what they are using.
Whats wrong with a government and critical infrastructure VPN?
Stuff like email, forums and so on?
Some of us still use desktops in trustworthy environments (e.g. my house) so not having to log in for every single little thing is convenient.
Or say when your using your computer in your locked house, do you really need to enter your password in to read your email every single time?
Yup. They are restricted to 80 different types of fart apps.
No, but the people who do the tracking dont care about you.
They want everyone else who doesnt try to evade tracking, which is a lot more people.

You'd think so, but the US Military has bigger guns and bigger idiots, so revolt could never occur.
"Use this Microsoft software and then your Windows computer will be secure."
Yes I know they work reasonably well, but man does that make me cringe. :p
Google Analytics is kept separate from everything else Google does including search. And the Adwords cookie is something completely different.
They *could* link it all together, but they do not.
Hmm a FPS based at the Emmy Awards? That could become a best seller.
Oh sorry I forgot to include it.

That article goes in to quite a bit of detail.
