They altered the way the desktop works so its no longer a file dump. Instead its a place to put plasmoids and nothing more. Their reasoning is on kde.org somewhere.
Well if what we are doing right now is the best we can do, and we are causing global warming, then we are completely screwed. Might as well give up now and save a few billion dollars.
I'm of the opinion that GW is natural and we are just giving it a teeny tiny push. Next they'll blame the next ice age on human activity as well.
Yeah simple arithmetic will never fool a computer. ;)
Yeah the biggest sites on the net often run on surprisingly simple systems.
Sure making your own custom web server in C with your web app integrated right in would be faster, but it simply wouldn't be worth it.
You trade raw efficiency for development time.
And most people are perfectly happy with that.
Oh you can still use it as a file dump.
They've just made it less desirable.
There are better ways to use the desktop.
Your home folder should be the file dump instead (which has convenient to use from all KDE apps).
Might be possible.
You can create a second panel, make it thin and then put plasmoids on it to get a similar effect.
I believe that was a deliberate design decision.

I quite like it. The desktop is pointless for me.
I've been using KDE 4 for months.
:)
While it still has quirks around the place and isnt production ready, I cannot go back to 3.5.
It looks and feels so old fashioned in comparison.
The quirks generally dont impede productivity at all.
They are just there.
Wouldnt you be looking for a development board for it?
Far too much prior art. ;)
What more could you wish for? :P
Actually thats deliberate but its not supposed to be for the whales. They are just collateral damage.

The US Navy is really going for the dolphins.
Trying to distract them because they envy their intelligence.
They haven't caught on to the mice yet though.
Does it have to be viable evidence in a court of law?
Remember that we are talking about private discussions between lawyers and clients.
Thats supposed to be highly confidential to start with.
Reasonable doubt does come in to play.
In my mind there is reasonable doubt about the case.
I cant see how there can be a conviction with no evidence.
The thing is that only Microsoft servers are affected by this type of automated attack.
Its a Microsoft flaw in my book.
I was trying to be funny but Slashdot mods are weird. :)
Another good example is Nicotine.
:)
Its a rather toxic pesticide.
Having a bigger marketing department than a programming department for a software company sounds pretty stupid to me. ;)

I've seen a eight core server hit hundreds.
:)
Mind you that was after I made a mistake on a production server which essentially caused all the site's traffic to turn in to a DDoS attack.
That was fun to clean up.
Since when is the net visual?
Isnt there a myth that the code is still there in Vista?
You cant easily search for anything other than images on a computer.
:)
They arent going to sit there reading the past few years worth of email or go through every document.
Morale of the story? Copy anything you want to hide in to a Word document.
Or hey, just use Linux so they dont know how to use it.
Satellite providers try to stop you.
Its also easy to stop with Bluetooth.
Whats your point?
They never said that they'd block it in the first place.
They said that they would block the insecure browsers.
Specifically browsers like IE 5.5 which is old and should never be used anymore.
I love my 4:3 monitors. I cant stand widescreen for anything other than games and movies.
:P
You obviously dont use Kompare do you for diffs.
Who is the amateur now?
There are of course limits but I dont see the problem with a body scan vs a pat down.
