    I've seen 'them' capitalize the full cost of an IT effort, 5+ years long, called everything 'R&D'. Anybody who understands the full life cycle knows the ratio of development to support costs, even fairly early in an effort. Decent auditors should look at that ratio, but that doesn't get them hired.

    If that's going on, it a straight up accounting trick at best. They are looking to be acquired, making their books look good by hiding operations costs in capital accounts.

    That part is just there to bankrupt some site operators. Foregone conclusion it won't pass challenge.

    Even the computer fraud and abuse law doesn't go that far, it only makes things illegal if a judge doesn't like them after the fact, but not before the law was passed.

    Hedge funds are mutual funds for the rich and connected. High fees, high minimum deposit, but usually they've got returns to (sort of) justify the fees. Insider traders that will take the hit for their investors, what Madoff was pretending to be.

    The building part always works. It's the getting paid part that doesn't. After the infrastructure is built, the Africans will call the Chinese imperialists and deny them whatever contract terms were promised them.

    The Chinese will get burned, same as _everybody_ else did.

    The first tariff was decades ago. Imposed by China.

    China's got shit to retaliate with. See the trade balance. They can't put in new tariffs, because they've had them all along. Sure, they tariff pork, which is 1% of the value of China's exports. That's just not going to work for them.

    Also: China's banking system continues to be a mess. US treasuries are the quality part of China's banking reserves. Think about that...they _can't_ say no to a central committee members child. Imaging what those loan portfolios really look like.

    Their economy is brittle. When it crashes, China will have a revolution. They've had 30 years with everything their way, haven't been able to get out of the 'producing junk ghetto'. Japan owned the quality Camera market by this stage of their development and was well along building a strong export car industry.

    Cops are, basically, NEVER charged with perjury, even when caught in blatant lies.

    Because the DA would have to retry a shitload of cases if he charged the cop with perjury, every case that cop had previously testified in.

    The nations defense attorneys should start collecting transcripts of cops lying. But the court reporters own the copyright on transcripts, so they can't be posted in reach of US laws. Funny how that works out.

    Defense attorneys should collect these transcripts on an overseas server. Testiliars should be forced to get honest jobs.

    Remember /.ers, if your car is less then 15 years old, you don't have a throttle cable. You have crappy software, that the FAA would laugh at.

    Some don't even have physical connections between brake pedal and brakes.

    Also note: If your car engine takes 20 weight oil, it will wearout in half the time an older engine took.

    Old cars are looking better and better every year.
