Microsoft may have gotten those companies on paper, but what games have they committed to be developed as X-Box only titles? I haven't heard of any. All those companies are developing PS2 games, then possiably porting them to the X-Box.
Who cares if it's the fastest thing in the world? It's still unstable and still can't compile the linux kernel. Now normally, I don't think that linux benchmarks are the way to prove sxomething, but the fact is that it's not a stable chip. Besides, even if you can afford it, finding it will be a pain as well. Buy AMD, they won't crash on you.
All hail Intel, king of the pre-overclocked processor!
For all you people out there who don't want to go through the pain of overclocking your processor, Intel will sell you one that is over clocked before you buy it!
Just set it to the speed on the box and watch your computer burst into flames.
Unfortunatly, it not going to be ready until christmas at the soonest.

If they had only embraced OpenGL 2 years ago they wouldn't be in the the terriable situation they are in now. Kinda sucks for them. The Voodoo 1 and 2 were good cards at the time. I think that they still have some use as co-processors of some kind. Anyone want to try and get them to puch numbers? And not to the screen. I know that you could use them to render (slowly, the memory transfer was bad) to the screen. Maybe if you got whole programs running on them....
F-Zero is the only game still worth playing for the SNES. Long after you've beaten and gotten every item and uncovered every bug in FF3, F-Zero changles you more. Enticing you on to the Master difficulity. It was the last great 2-d racing game. (Yes I know it was 2.5-d with the mode 7 effects and all but it was really 2-d)
SOme may argue that Super Mario Kart racing was better, since it allowed you to race VS people. But I call them fools. I never liked the style of SMK, F-Zero was the bomb. I'll still play the OLD F-Zero rather then the new one.
The one and only reason to buy a PS2.GRAN TURISMO 2000
The killer game of the century!
How about the new Metal Gear (going to be 1st on the PS2), the new Abe's oddysey (I can't remember the actual name.
Of the launch titles, DOA2 (if you haven't already played the DC version, Summoner (looks really awesome, I think it was the first with Anti-Aliased graphics), Armored Core 2, Ridge Racer V, Unreal Tournament (Even more colored lights), Kessen, and Silent Scope.
This launch blows every other launch away. The only game worth buying for the Dreamcast was Soul Calibur.
Nintendo 64? Mario 64. (maybe pilotwings)
PSX 1? I think that launch blew goats, Ridge Racer 1 and tekken 1. ( I never liked Tekken )
PSX2 will rock the house, if you are waiting for the XBox because it will be better, all you are doing is depriving yourself of GREAT games. Just so you know, I DON'T have a PSX2 reserved and probably won't geet one until next year. I'll probably go get one when GT2000 comes out. That's the killer game to me. When it comes to killer games, every one has their own favorite, and the one that will make them buy a system. For some it's mario, zelda, Street Fighter 2, Final Fantasy, and for even some, it's Tetris.
Why would you not want to buy it? It's going to havve some great games regardless of how "amazing" the XBox or Nintendo GameCube (or whatever it's called) will be. If you're on a budget and can only buy one the the 3 new systems coming up then I say, work harder! (oh yeah, you want the box so you don't have to work harder, my bad )
One reason that we are not exchanging anything REAL. Nothing that is tangible, is because we live in the INFORMATION age. If you want something tangible, go back to the bronze age or something. People don't sell things, we sell mindshare. This is what web ratings (and TV) are all about. Selling a piece of people's minds. Why do you think AllAdvantage even had an inkling of a chance, because they thought that they could buy people's minds at a cheaper rate then they could sell them...
But then a lot of people just got around that, and just got to freeload.
Not to sound like some sort of bandwagon jumper-oner.
But without people like John C. and the Unreal Team there would be no new graphics technology. We would be forced to find our graphics enjoyment in the realm of console gaming. Which is good, but it's nice to be able to get a really awsome card during that 1-2 period when gaming consoles don't improve.
Hardware/Software are a funny thing because hardware drives the software to new heights and without the software, nobody would buy the hardware.
The technology exists to stop people from linking directly. It's just that most sysadmins are too lazy to do it. If you don't want people to directly link directly to your webpages then don't put them up. Or use a html session to stop people who are !directly! linking in to stop them and their 'vile' ways.
That we are governed by people who are looking out for OUR best intrests.
This sounds like we live in a country that is completly and totatly corrupt. People in America are complete whores who will do anything for money. This is evidence of that, for the RIAA has created an enviroment wherin people are afraid of MP3, and distributing them.
Why should anyone care about the distibution of MP3?
Why should we care about some crappy artist's piece of work which in all probability, will be forgotten over the next few years anyway? Don't we have bigger and better things to worry about? I guess not. I guess that nobody cares about anything except what the media forces them to hear.
But, whatever happens will happen. It would be a shame if we lost the battle for MP3 and internet technology. If we were forced to use a network technology that had a strict morality built into the design. That would be a tragedy. Right now, the internet doesn't differenciate between different bits of data. Data is Data is Data. If the internet were able to differenciate, and know what type of data was being transmitted, think about how that would impact the ability of the RIAA to stop MP3. The only I see this sort of policy change going into place, is if the mega-mergers get even bigger, because as long as no single entity has more money and sway then the rest, then this could never happen to the internet tech.
Where this is going
Right now, the internet is a huge anarchy, has been since birth. Someday it might have to be more civilized in order to increase effienicy. This day maybe sooner then you think, so make sure that the battle for MP3's is more then that, it a battle for our freedom online. Our freedom to have this anarchy, and use it however we please. Our freedom comes at a price, right now, this price is very low. It seems to me that we will have to pay much more in the future for our freedom.
This guy isnt flamebait, he's got a point. Even if he isn't very smart, he realizes that games are important. Most people don't like to work, that all I do in linux. I mean, you can barely watch porn on Linux!
BTW, XML.... don't go there. XML has nothing to do with windows, unlike DirectX.
The 1.12Ghz chip from intel was a disaster. It showed to the public that ghz speed are not ready for prime time (with Intel chips). The only x86 ghz chip is the Athlon (that works). Personally, I don't see the need for a ghz chip yet. Even java swing runs great on my 650mhz.
This site is always BUSY, you'd think that with all the hits they're getting that they'd be able to upgrade to a faster system. Everytime a post gets on slashdot about his cool review (they are cool), I can't see them cause the site is too busY! This is why they should have a broadcasting protocol that works. Or maybe he should just stop running Nt, we'll see.
Actually, the reason for region encoding is very simple, money. Not mind control, though that would be a more plesant explaination.
Survey Says:
That the majority of people will buy the SAME number of movies/CDs regardless of cost (the demand it inelastic). This is because no matter how little a copy of Thomas and the Magic Railroad costs, there is no way I'm gonna buy it. And no matter how much it costs, I'm gonna get that copy of Brazil (Eventually).
However, since people only have so much money, companies will maximize their profit by finding that magic price point. That magic price where people will feel compelled to spend a little bit more on a DVD and still buy it. If they charge too much, the the pirates come out of the woodwork and sell more DVDs/CDs/VHS tapes and steal the profits of the hard working producers in Hollywood. This price is different in EVERY country, but since it would be way too expensive for them to make a DVD player for each and every region, they comprimise (I know, how nice of them).
So now they can charge what they want in the areas they want so that poor people won't pirate the DVDs and the rich americans can pay outlandish prices for the privilage of watching Spielburg's latest opus.
I say that we orginise a national burn all your Metalica shit day. They will never again get another of my grubby money. Those bastards. Go back to the flaming hell that you say you came from you whores.
NEWS FLASH: After selling their souls to Satan, the rock group Metalica has decided to wage war upon the minds and souls of those who wanted to be them. This is insane! Go back to hell and die. DIE DIE DIE. And die some more.

How could girls have a higher boredom threshold, math is the most boring activity.
Do you count the contraction as one word or two? Then it would be 7 words.
While the game it self was I guess zero sum, the game was definatly more fun when played with another person, thanks to its co-op nature.

Hear hear!
It's cause they love their precious, precious linux and anything said that even implies the contrary is to be shot down with extreem speed.
Fuck them if they think I'm tring to be a troll.

I'll even use a lame acronym to describe how funny this is.
ROTFL
Unfortunatly, without MP3 news, CT would only have one or two stories to post a day. Imagine only being able to write comments on two stories a day!

If I shake my keyboard too hard, the keys will come off! Except on my laptop, where it might crash my hard drive.
