I really enjoy having a different song for everyone in my address book. Picking the perfect song for each person is half the fun. Everyone who has songs for ringtone, please proceed to the second starship!
I agree wholeheartedly: I think the most important aspect of "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" was the Mercer-religion, yet it was completely omitted from the film, we miss a whole aspect of Decard's character, his empathy for his victims.
It's a software that lets you do things to your mobile phone. By not providing it or equivalent for linux (or any other platform than windows) or at least the neccessery information to access your data in your phone, Nokia stupidly gives the finger to it's paying customers.
I know that. I also now that the relatives of _real_ braindeads will see this development as a sign of hope, even when there is no hope (and also, given the now demonstrated ability of the brain of rewiring itself, how can we say in any case that there's no hope?), so they will insist on keeping the patiens alive.
You're right, I forgot about the the point of the whole thing: secrecy, and only thought about that it makes it impossible to change the transmitted data:(
Do you really think it's a problem? First, you can recognize your peer's voice. As for the man in the middle, for realtime, voice conversation, the delay would be too big to go undetected.
Tarkovskiy's Solaris is a very good movie in it's own right, but has so little to do with Lem's novel that he was so outraged that he forbid them to mention his name in the credits.
Actually, the problem could be solved if we really treated the corps as real people. In that case, most of them have been shut down a long time ago and the executives jailed: for fraud, tax fraud and other crimes.
You want me to believe that you would actually stop reading slashdot over something like that?
Not decided yet. But of course it was only the last drop.
Also, don't imply that any slashdotter who uses Windows is not sane.
Why? It's/., not some happy m$ fanboy site where the release of some "power pack" passes as news...
Windows is often easily available at no cost because it's included with most computers.
yeah, right. How about a economics 101 before we continue this threadlet?
Lots of people already know Windows, and are productive in ways that you probably can't imagine.
I usually watch them closely. Very enlightening.
Linux doesn't make you leet, or better, or smarter than anyone else.
Thanks for pointing that out. I have to rethink my life now.:)
The computer's a tool... It's all in what you do with it, not how you set it up with your uber cool KDE screensaver that you compiled from scratch.
You almost managed to pull off a level-headed, non-flame post. Too bad for this last two sentences. Want to talk about your issues with screensaver compilation?
very bad trend on/. in deed. Nowaday we have/. authors who can get away with implying that any sane/.-er actually uses windows. CmdrTaco, have an author meeting and set this straith, or many of your supporters will leave!
I don't follow politics, so care to explain what's wrong with gcc's politics? Or, what _is_ gcc's politics?
Thank you!

gtktalog has been abandoned for years now, katalog is not there yet :(
And what license will it be under?
Right. And what's your opinion about the method still widely used to make the babies, known as 'sex'?
And by brestfeeding, pass it on to your baby. I hope you're just joking.
Good choice, but first, here's some .NET!
never got more than 3 attempts because of this:
#recent protection from ssh attack
iptables -A INPUT -m tcp -p tcp --dport ssh ! --syn -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -m tcp -p tcp --dport ssh --syn -m recent --update --seconds 60 --hitcount 3 -j DROP
iptables -A INPUT -m tcp -p tcp --dport ssh --syn -m recent --set -j ACCEPT
Stories like this could be relocated there after the first comments.
In this case one write and talk the same way: YYYY/MM/DD. And I'm sure there are plenty of other languages does that too.

Point me please then to the PcSuite linux binary! Didn't think so.

Yeah, but what about the ones who need the organs the braindeads used to donate?
You making it sound like dealing drugs is in some way wrong!

They're good with math too!
:)
Now that's good to now
