    We've already got it. For example, I've bought Pink Floyd's the wall album on Vinyl Record, Cassette, CD, I have the movie on VHS, and DVD... I'll be damned if I'm going to buy it again in MP3. I just ripped it to OGG Vorbis myself.

    There are alot of texts out there with studies on what can save money for the company. This is how to grab thier attention. They like to see the all-mighty dollar.

    For this topic I recommend This study, as well as this one they seemed to help my former boss understand. And for planning time I recommend Code Complete so you can show them that not "coding" right away actually is a good thing.

    You hit the nail on the head. A recent /. article (maybe a month ago, can't find it right now) was mentioning that the reason CD Sales dropped wasn't because of P2P or Bittorrent. It was because the new music isn't worth buying.

    Actually, if a demo is available, I use that to decide if I like the game. I realize I only see one level, and sometimes just certain facets of the game. However, it gives me a feel for it to decide if it's worth my hard earned money.

    What about those of us who want to try the game before we buy. I've boughten any game I've played for more then an hour. Including Doom3, UT, UT2k4, Theif (& 2) just to name a few.

    Some of us like to try games to see if it's worth me sinking 6 hours of pay into it.

    Since Valve did not release a demo either, I guess I'll never play it unless someone else buys it and I try it on their system. And since me and my friends didn't really like HL/CS none of us wanna buy it untill we've tried it out. So Valve will probably never see my $60 (CAD)

    Um.... Wow... /. is really behind the times. Even at Best Buy they know about the PS Portable. And have for about 2 months.

    Wow for a NEWS site, the info seems pretty old.

    That said, I do like the home made job, but c'mon ppl, the last 2 weeks i've seen WAY too many articles that's been common info for months, or even years.

    Remember, it's called the "imperial" system for a reason.

    One foot, was the length of the kings foot, so this measurment changed for each generation. I'm not sure where the Inch came from, but one yard was the measurment of the kings stride (again, changing every 30 years or so,) and one mile being 1,760 yards just makes sense [/sarcasm]

    You missed a few.

    6. The more money invested in space exploration, the less money that goes to war.
    7. Space exploration is one of the few things that many countries are working on together. This helps bring peace.
    8. If all good scientists worked for NASA, or a privately funded space program, then there'd be no scientists researching weapons.
    9. Australia started off as a penal colony. Perhaps this would be a good use for Mars

    But seriously, you can make any group of numbers say what you want with some creative interpretation. Apparently 88% of grads from my college find work in their field. Where our graduating class it was more like 40%.

    Also I've seen the automatic update of windows XP SP2 freeze systems. When this happens and someone brings in their computer, we boot to safe mode and install SP2 off CD and the computer works fine.

    Automatic updates are great for joe average, but for those of us that know to check, get the big files on our own.

    Yes there is. It is called recreation and fun time.

    Otherwise, all most people need is a 32MB on board graphics card. No big deal.

    Well yes it would, and you can be the one to pull 3 tonnes of supplies into space, that's only how many miles? Go for it man!

    it's actually the whole point, the centrifugal force of the device keeps the ladder taught which lets you climb things up it

    EXACTLY. and since it's going to be at the equator it will extend straight out, if it were not on the centre of the earth it would pull further north (or south) from the rotation.

    And yes centre is spelt correctly, I'm Canadian.

    Only in natural language it'd be more like
    If some english statement that doesn't need == or () in it
    tell it in english to "find the square root of PI" as opposed to "sqrt(PI)"
    Natual language programming will not happen in my lifetime (and I'm only 24) which is good. It's hard enough to find a programming job as it is.

    Legalize it man!

    What I don't think most people realize is that if "it" gets legalized the government would need to have a way to regulate it. Ensure quality/potentcy, and charge lots of taxes on it. You can bet that both Canadian and American governments are working out the logistics of this problem.

    Much like we are not allowed to grow our own tobacco, we would not be allowed to grow our own wacky-tobacci either. And then you'd be complaining because the government has their hands in it controlling your drugs.
