Okay, this is riduculous...I think the server isn't accepting registration submissions. It kept saying "CAnnot find server" after about 5 full minutes of trying...and I'm on a cable modem!

Only problem with that is everyone will sign up for the mirroring pool anyway to get first grab at the site, so it will get slashdotted before the story is even posted.:)

Seriously, I would like to know. When you sometimes don't have all the answers (I assume that would be more than never), where do you guys go on the 'Net to find what you need concerning computer security, **/*acking, or even just news? Do you ever come to/.? This answer shouldn't take very long, and it'd be nice to get the seperate preferences of each crew member, as well as the general preferences of the group.

I happen to LOVE Altavista, it has the vastest search in the land... If you know how to use it. There are serveral tricks that get you just what you want. I haven't used Google much, but I still think A-vista's better...and I like the new layout, believe it or not, even though I don't use the site as a portal. I'm sure there are others who agree with me.

If the cable companies really need to charge for bandwidth like this, they should charge the sender. The companies get the same amount of dough, and spammers are REEEAAALLLYYY screwed!:)

It would be INCREDIBLY cool to combine this new technology with nerve control centers in/on your wrists to make a "gun" shape and start fragging! These wrist sensors would be used for other purposes also, I'm sure:)

WIth time, though, how is it possible to "fall off?" I mean, time never stops. Humans may not be in existence forever, but time will. Time is a property, if you will(ooh! I'm bringing in a programming concept!), of the other three dimensions, a function of them. Ooh, my bad. X, y, and z are functions of t, time. Well, that really screws me up. I can still finish this on a good point, though. Ah, here we go: time is one dimension in itself, while the space axes are three. If time is so coalesced with these axes, and the axes are closed but expanding, how can the final 4D model vary in this way.

Don't take it one day at a time. That opening paragraph was right...we as human beings must keep on using our imaginations and hypothesizing about the future. It's the only way things truly can get done the way they do, otherwise there would be no inspiration and all would be relatively apathetic about advancing the way we live our lives. Besides, reading these things make you appreciate the human ingeniousness buried among all of the stupidity.

...when CPUs and such can be implanted into our limbs or something to help "take some of the load off" for our brains. The power supply would have to be an elaborate yet simple and effective way of safely generating electrical current from the foods we eat and transmitting electrons via the nervous system network pre-installed in our bodies in order to make use of these chips. Well, nanotech and ingenious invertions like this are one step in the right direction!

Computers are "stupid." No, they do not need, nor will they will ever need, morality or spirituality. We can try to simulate it all we want, but it will always remain a bunch of BS to get media attention and serve as water cooler fodder for a week or so.

I'm sure most authors nowadays use their computers to type up books anyway, but instead of having the list of not-online books continue to grow, all publishers should have to submit the "Plain Vanilla Text" of each book they print to a government database. Then it can be decided if the author will allow the book to contribute to the Gutenberg(spelling?) Project after a year or so, after the book has taken in most of its sales. I believe this is a great idea, and should be put into effect immediately. Don't allow the burden of these great volunteers to grow exponentially.:(

Yes, NPR did have a segment on Linux...I remember listening to it w/ RealAudio on some site, might have been NPR's own. I'm sure you could get a hold of it.

The important thing, though, is that we as a human race are slowly building up this armada of monkeys(i.e.=Golds). Despite all of the gibberish that one spews, the few times that they actually produce something worthwhile are more that significant...they're esoteric(hope I'm using the right word:)!!! Just as poets have humongous piles of shit on their desks, most have the decency to realize it. Just the same, the scientific community should be trusted to prove and disprove theories objectively and accurately. The more of these monkeys, the better!
