Considering that President Bush was the first President since his father to mention any sort of NASA initiative (and NASA funding was cut during the Clinton admin.), maybe you need to re-think your small-minded, uninformed comment.
A replacement for the Shuttle is needed, but is NASA working on our heavy-lift capabilities? It seems to me that there is still a need for a Saturn V-type rocket to put the big stuff into orbit. After all, while orbital assembly may seem cool, it doesn't seem very cost-effective yet.
I mean, the war's over and they lost. Those resources could go to a better Firefox or whatever. If something startling comes out in the way of browser technology, then resurrect the name. Now it's just re-branded.
I can't help but think that there is some irony in Google helping people find things from "old media" broadcasts. Don't get me wrong; I think it's cool. I just can't help but find it a little funny.
After all, doesn't everyone have my best interests at heart? Why, just the other day, a nice Nigerian man sent me an e-mail about a wonderful offer, and I don't even know him!
As an earlier poster mentioned, most newer games depend more on the GPU than the CPU; anything over 2Ghz is almost overkill.
Intel and AMD are in the awkward position of needing to create a market for new processors in a world where a 1Ghz processor will do most office tasks brilliantly. They pushed speed, speed and more speed for so long that the average consumer doesn't give a whit about HyperThreading or anything else.
Tech heads and researchers and universities are different, but is that enough to support to very large chip manufacturers forever?

What's stopping someone from writing an entire environment like OS X from the ground up, around and on top of Linux, and creating an OS X like environment that is as complete and modern as either OS X or Windows?
My guess is time, money and the fact that the OS X developers only had to worry about a very small group of hardware configurations. It could be done, of course, but look how long it took MS to go from DOS (which they bought) to Win95..and they had resources out the wazoo!
Let me be clear---I'm not a musician. But I do not give away the services I perform and we shouldn't expect musicians to do the same. I should've been more clear.
Poser? Ummm, OK Asshat.
I enjoy their music, but how are struggling musicians supposed to make a living with CC? Maybe I don't get it, but these guys can afford to give their stuff away now...I can't.
1. Start drinking now to build up a tolerance.
2. If you're married, get divorced; your marriage will not survivce.
3. Lot's O' Condoms.
4. Did I mention drinking?
5. ???
6. Profit!
To be fair, I think it depends on who you read. Most bloggers talk about their own lives and unless you're a close friend, you don't care (at least I don't; sorry).
I've had a blog for almost three years now and I try to post daily on topics of interest: news, tech, the arts, or whatever I'm obsessing about. It's pretty hit and miss, but once a week I put up something good. Or that's what my mom says.
I'm not trying to start anything, but if you look at the community that plays console games versus those of us who game on a PC, you have to see that PC gamers are more "geeky" than console folks. As consoles get better (and less expensive), I predict that PC gaming will die. Give it a decade.
Thus, gaming on Linux will, IMHO, become a moot point.
"the economy has fallen apart"...by what measure? Or is this just a hit and run that we are supposed to accept without question?

Yes, I did. Thanks for reading!

Hellooooo, Mr. Government Man!
so are you saying that you don't believe every word written on some corporate honcho's blog? For shame!
*cough* Kettle, meet Pot
Amen. If IBM "marginalizes" Solaris, you have to wonder what will become of it.

gotta love that

How 'bout this: instead of playing online games, the South Koreans play "Liberate North Korea?" It would be a MM "real world" game. Just a thought.

I believe that the body has to be much, much larger than that...something on the order of 50 times larger than Jupiter.
...ahh, never mind.

Yeah, self-hating children like yourself.

Why was this modded Troll? Because of the comment about the Chinese? For fuck's sake, dude, read some history.
...to dump your first wife for the star of your movies, then dump her for the star of your NEXT movie. Yeah, he's a great guy. Cock-sucking teabagger.
I think you're thinking of www.simonbone.com. He went to N. Korea in 98 or so....very, very depressing place, IMHO. There are no easy answers here.
