    This is too much, now we all will have to download a pre validator for javascript to view the code (what does this code do, i can't read this, I am an 80 year old grandmother...) before going to the webpage and view it...sucks to go on the web these days!

    I have to agree, I have been in one of those situations, where I had access to sensitive data, and knew too much for my own good, and when I got the axe for cutbacks, which were only to line the pockets of the management teams with bonuses equal to that of the people being let go...i thought they were dinks

    I could have easily have set them up for a massive failure, but didn't because I thought
    for sure my future had better things in store for me and that this was the only way to get me to move on... I was right, but they did deserve what could have been.... especially that they let go employees also that had the most overtime and unpaid racked up to finish a software app. that they
    were pushing. Once it was finished to celebrate, they let everyone go, and gave themselves a big bonus. Really sucks to have people like that....they weren't even part owners or share holders
    just management without any scruples.

    Not really, although it depends what sort of employee he was, the more direct access he had to sensitive info, the more likely he is to be 'escorted right away' to the exit.

    Others might be given time to clear their desks of personal stuff...I left my company on ok terms, after getting a new job elsewhere, and I was told to try and clean up old emails, but keep important ones.

    It is relative to how they see you and the relationship you had with them, I could have done a number on them but didn't, although the grief they caused me, no one else would have put up with.

    I would love to see how long a windows xp pro without spk2 but behind a router takes before being owned....as this would set the precedent to how long you have to download your updates....
    select a few at a time then reboot etc.... until u have all of them. How long do u figure?
    Almost worth testing, unfortunately I don't have a router, anyone else???

    I hate Blizzard for this now, they make a gizillion $ ,
    couldn't they just have bought the guy out already!
    Now with this precedent , all other gaming companies will have free reign on installing this or that to monitor that your comp isn't doing anything unusual.

    G*dd*mn it blizzard, you suck!
    If I wasn't such an addict, I would boycott you!

    yeah seriously, like formatting and installing linux is hard, i don't get this tracking
    you laptop crap.

    If i wanted the info from your laptop, i would take out the hdd once i got my hands on your laptop, and just resell it with a new hdd and keep yours to review your info.

    And it also only works if you have internet connection, if I turn off the wifi and networks cards, no contact anywhere

    I tend to agree that having a sort of long history with ebay, and not a pleasent one at that, why don't they just stop all fanfare and just post a .05 cents per post which when they try to argue that they have to pay for their staff, sorry bub, you offer no real support and you already make more on paypal transactions, so why worry about the auctions as well, it would make this level to everyone and also be competitive to the ones lik craigslist or kijiji etc.

    I haven't auctioned on ebay for about 2 years now,
    last impression being a bad taste in my mouth (could almost think it was the CEO!)

    I just can't stand someone like M$ or Ebay that try to stiff you all the time.

    I sometimes like to just tell them to pick any type of problem, where I will go on the net find what they are looking for and explain to them what the code does.
    This applies to those few lines of code or more

    Then from there not only do they see I can pick up any code and now what is happening, but also should they need something done quick for a deadline I know where to get the code fast to then reconfigure properly (sourceforge you the true hero!)

    Add to that that some companies are either too cheap to hire good admins to set up web environments properly so the developer has to also be a jack of all trades in that dept.
    You can also add the fact that if a client has got some problems internally on their networks
    you must be able to bypass this so as to make your app 'work' in their environment...or else you get the old...'well this doesn't work so it's not a good product'.

    More like stop being a cheap ass and get web servers configured properly...
    If i could just code, I guess i would be much more advanced in my field then I am....
    but i would not be able to set up a full domain with webservers and cache servers running
    in a multi os environment.

    And by the way, if you ask what was their intended lapse of time for using the mars rovers, you will be surprised that we surpassed the life expectency purely by fluke, only because they thought spending our tax money to build them to be good for 30 days was ok....have you seen the price tag on those....when was the last time you spent 20 million on something that was only going to last you 30 days? Bad planning if you ask me!

    Yep, sure right wing my comments, but all in all if they weren't idiots, they would have figured out how to get to the hubble before it went out dated....instead we now have a piece of 100 million $ equipment that is almost unuseable

    As my last post said, I believe that if we didn't treat it as a vehicle for people, more like
    a towing vehicle that the next generation shuttles could use to trek stuff to the moon
    or else use as a trailer or storage unit with spare parts capable of being used etc.

    Or use it up for parts on the space station, as they might need some of those materials,
    or when you say it is not meant to be used for more then 2 weeks in space, is it possible
    it could be if you dropped off life support and used it purely as a carry vessel for the next gen shuttle that might come out there....sort of like a car sporting a car/trailer mod.

    I again state that if we have paid for it(meaning the parts are paid for) disassembling the shuttle
    on earth won't help us any , however if she has at least one last "manned" flight in here...then bring her up with a great big load of materials for the station, and then debunk her in space.

    We need to start our space scrapyard sometime...

    That is also why I think that the people making the decisions in our space programs are idiots.
    I am sure they see the need for some sort of backup plan for those people on the space station, yet don't think that it would be easy enough to send up one shuttle, and LEAVE IT THERE IN CASE OF EMERGENCY and send another up to bring back the folks that drove up the first one...I am not sure what the cargo load is for coming back down, but i think that if we could figure out the rotation, we would end up with a shuttle left up there in case any one up there needs to come back down immediately... or maybe for parts for the station in case etc....who knows...dont just disassemble them for the sake of saying "we passed the expected date, so now we crunch it!"

    If it still works, and we paid for it, then leave it as is.

    Well, actually converting the roof with full solar panels, and using silica solar paint for the paint job would help to turn sun into power and help recharge the battery while you drive and just sit there....otherwise if it was very cloudy you might need to also plug in....but this idea might be too difficult for some to actually understand. Yes stapling 3 panels on the roof of your car is
    a very hard task! I wonder why i don't make cars sometimes....lol

    dude this is america, where the big companies are know for holding back technology for 2 years before making it available to the public...if u go to japan you had the video phones 2 years before we did.
    All this to say, it will always be like this, and it will never change...get use to it....
