    Actually it takes less then that, they are the FBI and Adobe will always play by their rules...
    they have the reverse algorythm already to undo the changes per say, so you just have to figure out the order in which the picture was changed, twist, distort etc.... no magic here, just cheating so to speak.

    unless someone was smart enough to have burned that iso of the snapshot on a dvd bhefore any malware got to it, so as to have a proper image each time....and I know someone who was a god in linux that tought me what to place on the cd-rom to avoid recompiles, so that certain directories could not be written to, therefor not rootkitted...

    I tend to agree with you on this one, as much as the do no evil campaign may be catchy for the rest of them, in the bank while cashing your stock bonds, you may feel like, maybe we would have more if we had less.....of him..... so in retrospect, kepping in mind the sad fact that money makes the world go round, Google did right, by google, as for him, he made the mistake of believing he was
    part of the big wheel and not just part of the air keeping that wheel round and full....

    makes you respect tires in a whole new light doesn't it???

    Your right of course, in a perfect world not run by democratic companies making the big dollar, however, to hold the patent on such a feat of chemical accomplishment, also means, you dictate how long it will be before the general public can get their hands on it.....wait till 80% of population is obese and diagnosed with diabetes before bringing out the cure...if it will be a cure, or more a medication you have to take for life....??? To give money for granst that would SHARE that knowledge
    such is the way of universities....you risk loosing your advantage in the big wheel spinning world we live in.

    My hats off to you, if you were the one to write this code, got to say,
    I know when I am in the presence of greatness....again if you were the one to write the code.

    My compliments on the actual proof of concept though, beautiful!

    Care to elaborate on what your stem would be for accomplishing further steps, as the person
    accessing the page may not really have root, would there be a way to own the machine regardless
    of root access, maybe using a redirect to a process that does have root, say calling from firefox's
    known vulnerabilities???

    My point was still just using the snapshot ability to overwrite the previous os install after maybe 2 days, seeing as a snapshot takes about 15 minutes to restore, you could do a snapshot after the full install+upgrades etc.... then use that as your base for a malware free os, and after 2 days usage, wether you have malware or not, refresh os so to speak.

    I know this philosophy of using vmware may not be the original intent for its deployment, but
    short of creating your own os to be 100% certain that no malware can be installed, even linux can apparently get owned, so its not the os, its the usage of apps that make it insecure.

    We can't stop using our apps, so it will be up to something like vmware (for now) to help us, no?

    What about running a nix box using firefox, would you still have the problem of aquiring
    these malwares on your pc??? If this is not the case, then what about the same thing but inside a vmware install??? would it not curtail the threat while browsing the internet?

    I still think the earlier suggestion by who I forget...on /.....if we set up
    accounts with our isp to pay per email, then get a credit back for the amount of bandwidth we are allowed to use for the account type we have ( i set a fake one up with 100 emails per month OUT)
    or just a flat fee per email...atleast we would have reports of how many emails are going out, which would then alert us, hey I dont remember sending 1 millioin emails last month...I guess I must have a virus on my computer, which then would mean you are responsible for your computer , clean it up,
    we could say technically that this person is allowed a few offenses per year, but if each month is the same thing then they get stuck footing the bill....if i clean my computer, then 5 months go by, and then i get it again, the ISP should be smart enough to say , yeah probably a virus again, lets
    see if he cleans it up before next month...atleast it would be a start to solving the problem of the user not being aware....and lessen the chances of people leaving their computers on all the time for no reason. This would be more for the masses then corporations though...

    Don't take what i said to heart, I know I am not really the bad guy in this, but based on the company's policy where I was working at, their regulations would have meant I am a bad guy for trying to bypass email limitations by using hotmail etc...

    No offense taken either, you can flamebait me or troll me all you want on slashdot, seems
    tempers too hot and feelings are too sensitive here...we are all expressing our point of views!

    Actually, I had to relate to a user lately that had a problem with a self imposed limit the company placed on her email account, 3mb... for attachments, however a pdf containing info that needed to get to a client of hers was neccessary to get out asap for a shipment in waiting. Hence i suggested that she send it to her hotmail account from her hotmail account then forward it through to who ever she wanted, from there she was able to get the sipment through.

    I did not think anything of it at the time, but felt that I was the good guy, now I see your statetment would make me out to
    be the bad guy. Why the admins placed such a low transfer for attachments I dont know, but
    I think security should go hand in hand with usability. No use being fort knox when everyone
    thinking up of new ways to work around your security? Nest ce pas?

    Aside from the fact that linux community is smaller in comparison to windows....it is cheaper to not support the linux community, where as someone can tell you....you have a dell or winodws, then call them for support. If you have linux, everyone knows there is no one to call except for those of us that bought a package to allow for support...which is extra...

    As far as I know, I can only see this being a real money thing, everything is easily developed for windows(.net framework etc...) I can throw an app together in less then 1 hour, and publish it, whereas, not sure but i think for anything developed linux, there seems to be alot of hoops to jump through (ie- setting up distros, and patches, needing to recompile the kernel etc...)

    If they were to set up the proposed plan of pay per email as before, even being 2 cents an email, and have a commision go to the isp, they have to make moeny for their efforst in trakcing as well, it would not be long before we would see a warning sent to the owner of an infected computer needing to pay for all 1000 emails sent....this would let them know they are infected and be cheaper in the end to get a legit copy of windows...with anti-virus , then to keep paying for the infected emails coming out of their computer. Heck, even cheaper would be to switch to linux

    The problem comes from greed, cuz I know the bad boys are good enough to figure out who is playing with their toys....they either tend to shower you with enough money to buy you off, some affiliated with underground movements, some actual corporates with dollar signs in their eyes, and on some occassions, some with very shady characters on hand, so that if the inital money doesnt stimulate you to join their darkside, then their baseball bat bearing sopranos like wiseguys might...

    You would be surprised at how many people actually have the know how for such things, but
    know that doing such things may bring more harm to them then good to the community.

    If I knew how, I would be one of the first ones in line to do it, I dont scare easily, but then again, I dont weight in at 150lbs soaken wet and I enjoy playing baseball with the rest of them.

    If we support Islams way of thinking, then we should in fact support any other cults thta feeel they have been misunderstood, or worse yet, taken for granted. I think we should raise more mosks for those cults that pray to their sun gods, and show them equality to all muslams....

    In fact I think I am going to invent my own religion, pick and choose alot of things that
    are going to be great, make up my own holidays(ovey! its good to be jewish) and set in some screwed up rituals to weed out the infidels.

    If a religion says death to anyone that doesnt believe, they should be the ones shot , end of story. I welcome choice and freewill, but not if it costs someone else theirs.

    I put up with alot of religions, because it is their beliefs, but if one of those would not bat an eyelash at slicing my throat if they thought I was an unbeliever.....sh&t, let it rain fire!

    I have to say, being one myself, I don't think any ninja would have the time or energy to waste on little things such as pride. I would more so believe that some bystander saw something relating to a duel where there was a need for defense on some level and it is quite possible that a ninja could beat a monk or a monk could beat a ninja...depends on the level they are at.

    A Koga region ninja could very easily beat a shaolin monk , but might have problems with a white crane kung-fu master....why, diff. styles, and diff. combinations, certain regions are closer, therefor have seen the other styles or have had influence on them.

    I could even let you know that the present day GrandMaster Ninja Hatsumi sensei, not only is a ninja, but comes from a long line of samurai masters...his family were samurai, and he learned the ways of the ninja. SO anything is possible in this world, I have heard stories of how demeaning a monk could be to fellow peasants, and I have seen myself how family oriented and
    how much value for life certain ninjutsu masters have,
    I would hate to generalize as so many people do in their ignorance (and as in this article).

    If it were a real shaolin monk , there would be no lawyers, as the duel would take place immediately afterwards, with the monk seeking out the indivdual (as it would be his duty)
    and "finishing" the duel.

    Both sides take no sh*t and I think it sad that someone could start this whole thing as a media frenzy, where if asked I bet neither side would really care about such clames.

    I think it may be a bandwidth thief that may have hijacked their router , using it for his own p0rn collection....but in the end, I agree, if they had better info on who downloaded what, especially using mac addresses to see if there is more then one computer on the HOME network...which would show if there was someone else using it......then they could signal the user HEY you have 2 computers....downloading...."no i dont"...then in comes a tech that would secure their home router...

    Happened to my dad, and I set up his router's encryption and voila, he now isnt being charged 100$ month more because of the enourmous downloads...

    Sorry for sounding dull, but I think if microsoft can get away with what they have, monopoly and all, why not let these guys go on, as they are helping our development movement not hindering it.
    When you think of what they offer, and opposed to MS virtualPC i would rather have them.
    I wonder if Bill's hand is not reaching in his wallet on this one to help the lawyers find dirt on these guys....

    I could see a team of a few people actually making alot of money....have a whole room full of people getting the info from all the shops one by one, offering a great service to get placed on google for only 8$ dollars, give us all the info we need or better yet, send me the info through mail or email
    include a picture or we can send someone out , but cant garantee the picture to be the best of your store....then we will contact you as soon as this is setup (google contacts them they think everything is good) and for those shops that prefer someone to do the picture send someone out on a run of multiples that way he doesnt waste time for just one, but many at once....

    Its always been about controlling the masses, sure they want you to think about all the wiretapping going on, but even in a perfect world, to have wiretaps on everybody 24/7 ...after a week, you would break the datawarehouse piggy bank. What this does, is dissuade any would be terrorist from getting any ideas going into fruition, and leaves the really bad ones in that category. By controlling the masses by fear (yet again amercia) we avoid the masses from sheeping too many bad ideas. Any idea which is different then the governments is a bad idea.

    Now that the REAL terrorists are still needing to communicate and have heard this, they will implement even more cryptic ways of communicating. Which will in turn keep the big monster wheel going... making our good guys figure out new ways to counter that etc...

    We are heading a dark road into even darker territory, soon our children may have to take polygraphs everywhere they go.....

    I have always said that GH levels that control not only muscle and hormone levels, they also
    affect bone....as per our early bodybuilders would show us due to the use of organic GH
    as opposed to the synthetic used today. Organic made their bones grow, hence the big gap in their teeth, so because of this, also I would have to agree with this article as I knopw myself from personal experience using insulin, that everything is related at the molecular level to the gh our bodies produce, and which is why they give hormone therapy to obese people and also to aids victims.
