The first democratic elections in the history of Iraq are about to happen! Many people have been threatened by terrorists that if they vote in this election, they and their families would be _murdered_. Imagine if that happened in the USA. Imagine that if you _didn't_ vote for BUSH you and your loved ones would be killed.
This did happen in the United States. The African-American citizens were the victims.
It's simpler and more lightweight than GStreamer. Unlike GStreamer, it works. GStreamer is a much younger project and tries to create a full-featured media framework. Xine just plays stuff.
I always got the impression that Microsoft sees C++ in the.NET world (which, to them, is the ONLY world, now) as a sort of "power" language. It's not for high-level, simple stuff like forms... it's for games or... well, really intense stuff. So they just don't see it as making sense.
Personally, I think this is just another example of Microsoft failing to see what people REALLY want, and instead seeing their own idealized version of things. But, then, they certainly aren't an unsuccessful company, so who am I to say?
...but is there any actual evidence is was a Microsoft error? I like bashing Windows as much as the next guy, but it seems this is at least as likely to be a huge fumble by the admins.
... is why it's slower. What does Windows do faster? Is the problem in X, GNOME/KDE, or the Linux kernel itself? If we can find it, the hackers can fix it.
At the moment, I'm guessing that what we need is a more efficient X (moving up to OpenGL-based, a la Mac OS X, or just an improved API?), and a more efficient Gtk+/Qt. We have the RAM, let's cache stuff.
Or it's for people who don't have enough time on their hands to hit level 20 in 3 days. Just a thought.

My ghola will regret it, at the least.
Wasn't she about 9 years old in "The Parent Trap?"
I found my tires deflated (a prank, apparently) in the school parking lot about two hours ago. Quite the timing for this to appear on Slashdot.

That's why "most of us" download the ISO.
Aaaah, come on. If Open Source advocates had lives, where would Linux be?

"I had a chance to shoot Richard "Lord British" Garriott..." I've wanted to do that ever since Ultima 7.
It reminds me a lot of the serpent symbol from the Ultima series. (Ultima 7: Serpent Isle, anyone?)

I agree completely, since no pirated software runs on any other operating system.
...actually different from Under The Brim in content? Doesn't look like it. Any other differences?
Crossover 3.1? Instead, they did a much larger upgrade with Framemaker, Quicktime, and some other improvements.
It just seems odd since this [codeweavers.com] was released only a few months ago, and iTunes is still far from flawless under Linux.
Possibly, but, right now, we hate SCO more than we have reason to hate Novell.
And you know the other 2% are people still holding out hope for an Ultima Online sequel.
