Gimp is a usually derogatory term used to refer to a (normally male) sexual submissive, typically dressed in black leather (or rubber) and wearing a mask of the same material. This apparel emphasises sexuality by drawing attention to the crotch and chest. Sadomasochistic practice often features in the notion of the gimp, with a partnership between gimp and dominatrix (or dominant).
As much as I hate the money-burning project SETI, I hate the cycle-burning project SETI@Home. It's a shame that people put stress on their computers to do something that is sooooo unlikely to change anything. Use them on real science instead, like the einstein project, or the world largest grid - http://www.grid.org/ who participates in cancer research and proteome folding. Slashdotters of all people should not be victims to stupid beliefs like finding aliens.
Mandrake is for nobody. It has all the disadvantages of WinXP (slow, unstable) without any of the advantages. People say it's easy to use, but Knoppix is way easier both to use and install thanks to the automatic hardware detection.
Everything about phishing comes down to this:
The passwords are reusable. If you can just get the password from the user once, you can whatever you want. In scandinavia, all banks use RSA-tokens or lists whith one-time passwords (these are rare nowadays). The file on the token is secret, and the pin that the user puts into the token never have to be plotted into a computer, so that's secret too. The password you get out only lasts for a minute.
US banks apparently has the security level of Hotmail. Scandinavian banks (and probably most european) have had this system for like 10 years. Should I laugh or cry?
The problem isn't IE or any stupid client-side securty hole. You could just the same use a keylogger.
The real problem is that banks use pin-numbers. In scandinavia we have had these small RSA calculators for 5 or 6 years. You enter your pin into it (removing the possibility of a keylogger) and you get a pin back based on the time of day and time of year. In other words, you only use you pin once. Some american banks have started using this to me, totally obvious securty features recently.
That made me think of the emails you frequently get from "Hotmail Staff", "What do you do this easter?!?!". AND, it's impossible to click the "Report spam"-button on them.
Not to mention the ads. Do I want to see ads for dating-services every day?
And the speed! Hotmail is sooo slow on Opera and sometimes ot won't even load. I think MSN have a whole different redirection sequence for Opera, but that's offtopic
Well, yeah it's cool now, but how cool is it when everyone here can afford it? If everyone has it, it really becomes more of an annoyance.
Or on the other hand, if these things gets perfected and becomes really expensive. They will turn into todays bullet proof vests. A nightmare for law-enforcement.
And one idea, why not make the clothes rigid, for better invisibility. If they are rigid (e.g. sylinders for arms), the possible angles becomes fewer. Oh well.
encfs does the same thing, but also encrypts filenames. It isn't "Enterprise-class" though, so I guess if you are a PHB you probably shouldn't use it.
TrueCrypt is not GPL. They use their own homegrown license which is incompatible with the Debian Free Software Guidelines.
Funfact: In South Korea when you buy a movie ticket, you can buy a particular seat, like at a sports game.
In all of Europe too.

Not a problem at all. Use http://btmgr.sourceforge.net/ to boot from the CD-rom using a floppydisk

I agree, you *have* consumed your fair share of LSD.
Would a failed collision-test on a car make driving it less fun? No, but it's still an even better car if it has airbags.

If one talks a little slobby, it can actually sound like "toilet" in Norwegian.

The msi-boards even cut the power to the processor if it gets too hot.
