Paying real money for Linden dollars in Second Life is a stupid. It is quite easy to make money in the game. Especially if you have any programming or graphics skill. I have started a little self sustaining business for myself selling virtual items I have created. I am currently averaging around $50 real money a month and have never paid in a single dollar. Not huge, but better than paying money to someone to play a game. Here is a Wired Article about some of the biggest money makers in the game.
YES! Mechwarrior 2 had awesome game play, and was one of my most favorite games ever even though the graphics were not that great. Then M$ took it over and dumbed it down for Mechwarrior 3. Sure it was prettier, but was no where near as fun. But I bought it and played it anyway. Then came Mechwarrior 4. Exact same thing. Dumbed down even further, and prettier graphics. No wonder the franchise died.
Now to parallel: Tribes. This FPS had revolutionary open game play with a permanent jet pack and HUD scripting. No more running around in dark corridors. The freedom to fly! and emphasis on team play. I was instantly hooked. Then Tribes 2 came out. Again better graphics, but never quite felt the same due to several rules changes, but still playable thanks to Mods. Then the final nail: Tribes: Vengence. Vivendi killed this game almost before it was launched. Despite the big graphics upgrade, it was so dumbed down that they had just turned it into another Deathmatch game. I wanted to love it, but it just didn't hold me the same as the previous Tribes. Then with the patch fiasco's, they basically killed it too.
I mourn the loss of my favorite games.
Hopefully Volitant Assault being developed by former Mod developers will make it and be everything the next Tribes should have been.

I am glad somebody mentioned Second Life. I was about to when I found this post. Yes, the graphics performance needs some work, but the freedom of content creation in unprecedented and more than makes up for it. One link that readers of this article may find interesting is the Second Life Games Wiki which details some of the games that have been created in world.
Wish I could have seen it, unfortunately on our local station, it was preemted by a local BOWLING tournament. No wonder it's viewership dropped off last week.
I realize you are just trying to make a funny, but seriously, I have 2 Siamese cats that are the friendliest cats I have ever met, and they both play fetch. Ever since they were kittens, they would bring me their toys when they wanted to play, and I would toss them across the room. Then, they would tear after them and bring them back. No training required.
Yes, of course, I mean T:V. I just used T3 for the masses. And yes, I have played all 3 Tribes (and multiple MODs) and Halo. And, I also agree with you that some elements of game play are better in T2 (base D was more important for example) and hoping some of the MODs will restore these things (a rocket launcher that doesn't suck, more than 3 weapons). I don't know about nothing to learn, it just seems like nothing if you have already been playing T2. The grappler has a lot of potential once mastered, and the stearable missiles and buckler definitely require some practice. The biggest improvement, of course, is the graphics which blow away T2. In a perfect world we would have T:V graphics with T2 gameplay, but I am afraid that won't happen unless we get some good MODs, so for now, I am revelling in the goodness that is T:V.
What is/. coming to when Halo 2, a M$ console game make front page for going gold, but Tribes 3, the best PC FPS ever made only makes it to the games section after hitting the shelves a week early?
Tribes 2 may not be the king of pretty graphics but it is still the funnest multiplayer game in existance, especially the Renegades variant. It just boggles my mind why this is not a more popular LAN party game.

I have exactly that already. 3 lights (2 lamps and a halogen torchiere) programmed to get increasingly brighter over an hour. This program is then run out of my X10 ActiveHome module so I do not even need my computer on. This was a fairly cheap solution (at the time) and I would highly recommend it for anyone who is "not a morning person" like me.
What you want/need is Process Explorer. It is one of the best free Windows utilities that I have ever found. It shows all running programs as well information about them to help identify what they are.
