Yes, the mfg. would be hit hard...because you could have been killed; with a PC, the worst that could happen is data loss. No death, no injury, just personal data loss. And if you were smart, and backed up your data, then there'd be no real problem.
Think about it, what kind of phone line have we had for years? Analog! VoIP was just getting popular when TiVo came out, and analog still holds the market when it comes to phone. Eventually, TiVo may put instructions for VoIP in the manual, but do most home users have a VoIP line? And out of the numbers of TiVo users, how many are tech-savvy enough to set up TiVo on analog alone? Makes you think.
1 - It may be ancient, but history often repeats itself.
2 - McCarthy didn't have to be in the FBI.
3 - Two words: Thought Police.
4 - He wasn't ordinary, he was a black speaker in a white world at the time.
The big music companies keep thinking they can screw us over, but finally, they have internet radio, and the non-indie stuff is swamped with adverts to cover the cost of the music. It's killer to know that they can do this kinda thing over the pond, let's bring it to the states!
Yeah, this woulda been nice back in 1998 when I bought my Portege 7010CT. UPS (Pronounced: Oops) promised it would be there in five business days. Ten business days later, I finally got it. It's nice to see this, though. Of course, it could just be a way for UPS and Toshiba to make lots more money...I'm hoping that it will help boost business, though. 'Shiba makes some good laptops. (Let's just hope they get to YOU people on time and such.)
First, I'm hoping you know what the EPA is...Ok, it's the Enviromental Protection Agency. On the car's sticker with all the info, they put an estimate of what your miles to a gallon will be. In city driving, where there can be lots of acceleration or braking (which uses more fuel) is usually lower, and then the highway, which is higher for the opposite reason that the city MPG is lower.
SO, you get this:
20 MPG City, 28 MPG Highway. Or, 20/28 as the stickers usually sorta show.
I drive a '76 Chevy Cheyanne Super 20 Camper Special. So, I average about 5-6 miles to the gallon, city, and maybe around 11-13 highway.

Of course, it has two thirty-gallon tanks, so it's a monster to fill. However, I only fill it about once or twice a year! Wanna know why? I bike. It's better for ya.
First (Gee, I SURE AM GLAD to be using Firefox on Windows!) and foremost, what if the creators of this are students of the high school who are obviously smarter than the paraprofessional at the front desk who takes calls? They could have set up a webhosting account using the school's name and phone number to look legit, or call it a "project" or something. Of course, I could just be a complete moron, too.
What happens when Army computers get slashdotted?
*hides in his nuclear bunker...for a week...*
I'm betting most of the military computers are Win-based...
And yeah, do imagine all the change this guy was so lucky to see! Forever will he remain, in the archives of Slashdot.
Beastie Boys got Slashdotted. Serves em' right for trying to DRM their CD's. I don't care if it's in the US, UK, or Uguanda, IT'S STILL DRM! You can't put a price on music, music is free! Go down to some African country and see the peeps gathered around beating on drums and shite, the record companies won't get away with charging 18.99 for a CD much longer, I can tell you that...
We'll never get anywhere by building fences. You've heard the Linux quote, "In a world without windows and gates, who needs walls and fences." My sipmle solution is to just let the people on the network, use a public/private hotspot, D-Link makes some nice ones.
Simple, but effective.

I think this is just another way to steal the election, but this way is a LOT easier.
I think you mean the "Freedom" resistance.
I thought it was "FREE KEVIN!"
A dot-slashing. That's just plain scary.
Oh. Thanks for the info.
Aren't beta rays stopped by your hand?
Alpha: Stopped by paper
Beta: Stopped by your hand
Gamma: Stopped by brick walls and the like

The discussion about private schools is not about higher education, it seems more about grade-level schools.

I KNOW THE DIFFERENCE!!
Linux works.
But seriously, comparing Linux to Windows is like apples to oranges...

Hope that helped.

I'm going for Option Number Two.
