I absolutely hate the design decision that says the user should not be allowed [blogspot.com] to shut down an application. I understand Rubin's argument, but it is only an argument. Real users like to tidy things up. Having no way to make an application disappear from the active applications list is just very irritating.
My phone came with an app called TasKiller which does that. But why does it matter that a particular app is using memory if loading another app can cause the memory to be released? Think of apps in memory as a cache. You don't normally go through caches manually cleaning them out. Perhaps the problem here is the feature which shows you the apps in memory. If you didn't have that information you might be happier overall.
Some surfaces on SS1 got quite hot during re-entry. They were coated with a special paint and it was re-coated for every flight. I would not be surprised if the paint job lasts just one flight.
You can always take your own parachute if you want. My uncle has a military cargo parachute which he collected as a souvenir from Vietnam. It would pack up fairly tight and would be better than nothing in a free fall situation.
OTH I wonder how you could go if the pilot had the ability to dump all the cargo. I mean all the suitcases and such, not the self loading type though I am sure they have been tempted from time to time.
But every application has its own interpretation of signals. For some a HUP may reload the configuration or force an update. For others this is not so. For some there may be a safe way to request a shutdown. For others, no. I have written start/stop scripts for daemons I wrote. I think it is a lot more consistent that way and I bet many openbsd users have improvised their own rc.d mechanisms.
The problem is that girlfriends abhor an un-collapsed wave function.
You didn't miss much.
My version of the quantum entanglement wedding ceremony employs lasers with nice coherent, monochromatic light.
And sharks, of course,

I'm told that there is some emphasis on designing new transmitter/receiver systems that can squeeze more bandwidth out of the strands you already have
Yeah this was in the news today. It talks about 100Gbps per wavelength and 16Tbps in total.
Its a shame they didn't understand the affect of the compound walls on the helicopter. They very nearly lost the mission at that point.
Obama is as black as most African-Americans.
Everybody's assuming he's behind the 9/11 bombings
I don't recall there being any bombings on 9/11.
As a missing link it makes sense. As a finished product it does not
But then how do you explain ClearCase? Wasn't it intelligently designed?
Looks like we got all the MOTDs at once.

Soon they will give you a one shot robotic tablet to swallow and a mobile phone app to relay data from the robot to the doctor via bluetooth and 3G.
Tweezers and a very small light proof bag.
I really don't understand why criminals wouldn't use something like that.
These techniques are known to smart people and we are lucky that there are few smart people in the terrorism trade.
Yeah all those doctors in the UK for a start. Didn't any of them think, you know this is a real waste of an education.
He used a clever encryption scheme he developed on his own. It uses a spreadsheet...
Mod parent Insightful, not funny.
They will cool down when not exposed to light but that will be for 45 minutes at a time at the most.
The /. MOTD seems to be stuck at that one.
Make sure your cutouts check for tags.

Rear facing seats would be a big help though.

Cripes they could have just copied from netbsd ten years ago.
