Since I know a few members of this LUG, I agree with you completely. The author of the post says he "suspects" filtering but he hasn't shown us any definite proof. The error message he displays says "disk full"...maybe the other text in the error is somehow lost in translation.
There are probably a dozen other explanations for this, and I seriously doubt that filtering of outgoing mail is one of them.
I remember something similar to this happening to Rage Against The Machine during the Napster era. Their manager enforced a ban of RATM music in agreement with Napter, without informing the band that he was going to do so. When the band caught wind of it, they created a post on their website informing people of how to get around the search filter in Napster. I believe they fired the manager over this.
I could be wrong, it was almost 7 years ago....
I've been hoping that Netflix would release a "Watch Instantly" plug-in for the Xbox, or at least a module for Windows Media Center that my Xbox would use as an extender.
Although Netflix Watch Instantly is very cool and works well, I still think they need to get more material available....but I really can't complain since it's free with my current plan.
I think what the MS guy was getting at is that there are no firewalls on the indiviual servers. A Cisco ACL isn't technically a "firewall", since it isn't based off of NAT, but accomplishes the same thing.
How old is the hardware? Something to keep in mind is that an older version of Photoshop may run better on older hardware than the latest version of Gimp.
"my professor used soda cans"
Does that really work? If I saw something like that the first thing would come to mind is "litter" and probably put it in the trash.
According to the FTA, the find was originally located in 1999, and partially excavated in 2004 with a full investigation commencing in 2006. Having never studied archeology or paleontology, is it common for sites like this to be passed by even though there is something located there?

Why were you ashamed of this? How much did you learn by tweaking this machine? Time spent learning your trade and enjoying it is time well spent, definitely more constructive than "going to play outside".
And if working just to get money to pimp out your machine is what you were ashamed of, I don't consider putting that money into buying a better computer "materialism". The only people you could really impress would be your geek friends. Having a better machine would enable yourself to only learn more.
This totally happened to me last week. I was sold a pre-order for Guitar Hero II when I wanted Guitar Hero III. How in the hell does somebody sell you a pre-order for a game that you've already had for months?
This article was a complete waste of time. No details were layed out for us; my favorite was when they said they "could have" plugged in a wireless access point to the server rack. Without actually trying it, they didn't prove dick....for all we know their network may not have allowed unknown MAC addresses. It was all a bunch of "we could have" done this, or "could have" done that. Just do it for god's sake!
Just walking into the server room and putting stickers on a server doesn't prove that you actually could have walked off with it. Just saying that you "could have" disabled the alarm system doesn't really mean that you wouldn't have caught someone's attention.
I understand that part, but not all VM's work this way....doesn't VMWare actually access some physical devices directly (or maybe this is Xen, not sure)?
Regardless, Apple did release a VMWare image of 10.4 to developers when making the Intel transition, so I'd imagine that this wouldn't be too difficult.
I'm not sure I follow you on this. Apple is only licensing Leopard to be run on an OS X host. Are you suggesting that VMWare won't be able to support Mac hardware in an OS X virtual machine running on an OS X host box on Mac hardware?
Some things to keep in mind about Server Core:
The box can only be used as a Domain Controller, DNS Server, DHCP Server, and File Server.
This would limit the amount of updates required; no updates for IE, IIS, Sharepoint, nada.
Server management can be done through MMC on any client machine.
I think one thing that needs to remembered is that 2008 will also contain "Server Core", which is essentially Windows without a GUI. I haven't played with 2008 since the early candidates, but I'd bet good money that a lot of the performance issues and disk space usage can be minimized when running in Server Core mode.
Simple. It's called Rank-and-Yank.

No kidding, I knew all of those countless hours in front of my 486 playing Panzer General would pan out eventually.
It looks like a replica of a Tiger I, which I believe is the Panzer V chassis.
Well, not for long....since it made the front page of Slashdot I'm sure he'll exceed his 3 TB limit within the next hour.....

I can't wait that long....I'll be 55 by then and I'm not sure if I'll still have the libido to keep up with a fembot.

So who wants to be the first to try? ;-)

;-)
Back then? I'm sorry, you must be new here....
Netflix already has this with their "Watch it Now" feature. Although the selection is currently limited, it is growing, and it works quite well.

Yeah, funny is what I was aiming for.
Does this mean that Native Americans really aren't "native"?
