    Doesn't mattter. If she is 14 and he is 19, that would still be statutory rape. She is not, I believe, legally able to consent to sex. I could be wrong depending on state law, that's how it is in my state, I didn't do the research. Anyway, this type of mentally lead to a lot of unprosecuted rape in the past. I think that is altogether unfair. Clearly, the parents are the ones beyond the greedy law suit and clearly this is rape no matter how little merit the lawsuit has.

    Please don't bitch people out for getting facts "wrong" just because they use terms with which you are unfamiliar. "Banners" are not always banner adds, and a metaphor doesn't always have to be extended indefinitely. I wouldn't complain, if you were just very confused, but you had to be a confused pain in the ass.

    Funny you should mention that about diet drinks. I try to avoid regular soft drinks at all times except as a special thing when I'm out at a restaurant. However, as a result I'm drinking various artificial sweetened soft drinks. One thing I've noticed (particularly with the splenda-sweetened Fruit2o brand) is that after I drink one, I'm suddenly really hungry. Really hungry. I feel like the sweetness or one of the ingredients significantly stimulates appetite.

    You make a good point. The crime is what the virus does, not the fact that it's been created. So in some cases misdemeanor vandalism is exactly what the writer should be charged for, in other cases the crime is more serious. 2600 makes this point often, society can't start making "hacking" a crime, if it should be illegal then there are already laws that apply to it.

    I think restrictive environment also meant not running ActiveX, etc by default, which obviously Firefox doesn't do. But in terms of user priviledges, Firefox doesn't do anything special there, but I suppose if you have Fast User Switching enabled you can edit the short cut to run it as another user. Is that how Run as works? I never used it.

    Well short of fixing problems that shouldn't be there anyway, one could argue the only major leap forward over Windows 95 with the file system updates, etc is NTFS. Over NT4, I suppose there was no leap forward according to this methodology, so of course no one would want. That was the original poster's point after all, that people only upgraded because bugs that created a lack of security and stability. One might argue that this is statement is too narrow...but it is certainly correct.

    Yeah, I know my local Wal Mart only hires rich people. If you work for Walmart you are poor. Once Walmarts (especially "Super" Walmarts) replace other businesses, then it will mean that many people living near a Walmart will have little other choice but to work there. Therefore living near them causes people to work there, working there causes poverty, living near them causes poverty.

    Well not so much 'industrial' espionage back then, but yeah, Europe worked its way out of the dark ages by ripping off everyone else. Literally, everyone else.
    Anyway, I'd feel a lot better if China didn't control the standard, as it is they have a ton of control over our economy, and quite frankly every once a while there comes an entity that makes Bill Gates seem like the lesser of two threats.

    Hey I'm a Christian and frankly two consenting adults of any sex should be afforded the rights of marriage. Including the name "marriage". What about this is the "polar opposite of marriage"? They still love each other, there's still consent, and -gasp- with adoption they can still raise a family. Sounds like marriage to me.

    The problem arises from the RIAA not knowing what it is that they sell. Do they sell the CD? If so I should be able to loan it out whenever I choose to whomever I choose. Or do they sell the license? In this case only I may listen to my CD, however the CD were to break, or become obsolete, I should recieve a free replacement with whatever the current medium is.

    Well local programming like news can really suck out in the middle of nowhere, fortunately I've never really run into this because I live right in the Chicago Suburbs, 2nd or 3rd biggest market in the country (probably 2nd IMO). Even in a big city like Detroit, their news looked to me like a production put together by some High School. Plus the big markets get all the hot anchors.

    Brand name debates can get crazy passionate. Usually mac vs. PC debates go one for weeks and end with both sides insulting the others' mothers.
    I'm not a big fan of either company, but I would agree with Real reverse engineering, if they were actually lenient with their own technology. Meanwhile, this corporate feud has made Gates happy enough already, let's not forget why were here!

    This limit is new? I use Windows on a computer and it won't run more than 3 applications at once. Everytime I try, it says that it's illegal and it won't make an exception, or something like that.

    Orrin Hatch seems like he's some alcohol and an uzi away from something REALLY bad going down. He comes up with the craziest ideas to help the RIAA, at least if you're going to be evil, be down to Earth about it like all the other politicians. Remember that bill he proposed to let companies disable PCs to defend their intellectual property? Then he invokes being a composer as his reason for caring, the best copy protection would be to include a verse by him in every song.

    In my entire time in school, I have encountered less than a few dozen PCs (a small amount of Dells, to run the 2 Windows only programs, not even on the network or internet), and hudreds of Apples. However, I think that it might be better for Apple if Microsoft is introduced to teens at school. My School's IT staff is pretty pathetic, so the network uptime and computer performance sucks, plus let's face it school's aren't big spenders hardware wise. So, this crappy performance has caused most people to blame Apple, not realizing that all public computers would do that. Obviously, the reason schools have a tendency to be entirely one or the other is that they picked what was cheapest, and then upgrade gradually. And PCs and Apples on the same network make things more complicated, especially with group liscenses for software. Finally, being familiar with my school's IT staff, I don't think they could manage Linux, and the less tech-savvy teachers complain enough as it is.

    It requires very little physical skills, yes. But it still involves practice, genetic aptitude, effort, and yes teamwork. I am in fact a "mathlete", and for the record there is a "Science Olympiad" and a "Scholastic Bowl" (history, trivia) and as people mentioned, there are Latin competitions. As for memorizing multiplication tables, I hate to disappoint you, but we do a lot more than that. Knowing the table slightly better will save you a few seconds, knowing problem solving skills will save you a few minutes.

    Well, many people actually use Microsoft securtiy flaws as a technique for administering their network, which is pretty much laziness anyhow. But what I find irritating is that the SP will activate the built-in firewall, yet if someone bothers to download these updates, chances are they have their own anyway.

    You accuse liberals of not arguing, yet you site not a single fact. And you don't even come close to the topic. The topic was the DoJ not releasing information. The conversation turned to Bush because so far he has fought the FOIA many times to hide things from us, the reasons are up to you. What you said is unnecessary, and close to libel. Hence I think it was fair that you recieved that rating. (btw. party affiliation, and "sexual skeletons" do not go hand in hand)
