They are researching. However, they did not invent this, and so will get absolutely no profit from it. Also, if they try to put their own version of it into the market, chances are the market will get so competitive there will be no profit left in production, either. All in all, it sounds like a good deal to me: cheap energy, big oil going out of business... who's to lose?
Oh.. Nope. wasn't trying to say that. I gathered from your first post that you had seen the article, and watched it for 2 months to see when it was corrected. My mistake for misreading your post, or yours for writing it in a hard to understand way, i'm not really sure which.
I am, myself a grade school student, and I use wikipedia for information. I always check it with other sources, however, as everyone should if they use it. Things in the wikipedia are usually either right, or just way off from right that anyone could tell the difference. For example, on an article about a person, it would have things like insults stuck in the middle of a paragraph on a person's high school days.
all I can say is, if you're using wikipedia, check it with other sources, preferably books/periodicals/offline encyclopaedias.
and that's exactly what the parent was getting at, it's your fault that it wasn't fixed, because you didnt fix it or try to clean it up during those two months.
There is noone who will fix these things for you, unless you tell them.
25 years is about how much a person in canada would get for murdering three people, and he would likely have a chance for parole at 12 1/2 years. What do you want the person to get? 50 years? the death penalty? I think sitting in a prison cell for 25 years would make someone think twice before trying the same thing again...
The first memory I have is of playing wolfenstein 3d on our old 386. A couple months later, I remember playing it, with my moving around, while my friend fired and opened doors. It took practise, but we were unbeatable after that (not that the game was very hard in the first place).
For the consumer, it does do something. Do you see any DVD's out there that can store both regular DVD format, along with blu-ray format? no. do you see DVD's out there that can store regular DVD format as well as HD-DVD format? yes. People will be more likely to buy a DVD that may have more use in the future than one that will be the exact same in the future. The HD layer is going to have the same content, but it will be better quality.
It will probably need more users for it to be featured by bigger news sites/papers. Nothing wrong with saying slashdot featured it first!
Although I don't really classify the Globe and Mail a minor news site - it's the website for a newspaper, not an internet-only news site.
Excellent comment. As you say, Nasa has recently changed its course. But if so, it was completely internal. They don't seem to be doing anything at all, as far as I can tell from the outside.
liberating? Before, women were oppressed, and they weren't really have a right to free speech. Notice how most of the Iraqi's didn't want to be "liberated"? and how now, they are completely free! except... how noone uses their "free speech" because they're still frightened of people with guns, it doesnt make a difference whether the Iraqi's or American soldiers have them. They haven't had a vote yet. They have an American "temporary" government. even if that is eventually changed for one that they actually vote on, the Americans will still have incredible influence on the country. (Yes, I mean more than it does on most other countries in the world.) Thousands of Iraqis are dead, I bet they feel pretty liberated.
As far as I remember, which may be wrong, the scouring of the shire took longer in the book than the battle out on those plains down by Minas Tirith. but I'm just going by memory. It would've worked in the film version and not added a million hours if they made the other battle shorter.
Whether or not an embryo is alive is a matter of opinion. In the first couple weeks, sure it is growing. But can it feel? No. Can it think? No. Can it move on its own? No. Could it live if left on its own? No.
I dont think that really constitutes as being alive.
I don't think this new p2p protocol will work. The appeal of p2p wasn't that you are wasting your upload sending your songs to other people, it was that you could hear a song when you want, for free.
The article said the reason was to move away from dependence on foreign oil. However, I think o move away from dependence on fossil fuels in general is a good enough cause.
Also, you mention in your comment that coal is cheap. It isn't really. The only way it is relatively cheap is through strip mining, which I am pretty sure we pay for with damaged landscapes.
And a third thing, you say that if the US increases the price of oil and gasoline, adoption will will increase. You, in the United States, pay some of the lowest gasoline taxes in the (industrilized) world. Those who have already had their taxes increased are still paying for oil. Although there isn't really an alternative at the moment, besides not driving.
Whoops. I didn't mean to say browser, I meant to say search engine. All I can say - It was just my opinion - I'm not really a client, as I'm not paying google for any of its services. As far as I'm concerned, I'll use it as long as it's free and brings up good results for most of my searches.
I doubt it, personally. It is a reliable and accurate web browser - A lot of people won't mind that it censors certain searches. The public won't give up better search results just becasue of a small amount of censorship.
My connection is "always on" with a static ip, but my ISP won't let me ping anyone. It wont let ANYone ping anyone on its service. Other than thatm though, it works great =P
ah yes... and these new solar cells are supposed to have plastics in them or something right? and aren't plastics usually refined from petrochemicals?

Connecting it to the nervous system, i would say would be the hardest part of this.
;)
Zaphod Beeblybrox anyone?
At least they could get a realistic way for him to have 3 arms in the movie

Waking Life was a brilliant movie. The visuals just helped to add to that.
Anyways, excellent recommendation. I say they should too.

I am having the same problem.
