My 2 cents. I was using Pentium III 600 Mhz with 512 MB of RAM, GeForce 2 Pro, SB Live Platininum, and Red Hat Linux v7.2. I checked this WineX. Here's what I noticed:
1. D2X with the latest version was very slow (less than 10 FPS at 800x600).
2. Some of the sound enhancement were disabled like EAX.
3. Sometimes clicking on shortcut doesn't give me D2 screen, just my desktop. Running from terminal works.
I wasn't impressed and will continue to play Windows only games in Windows. Q3A and RTCW are installed in Linux since they have Linux ports.
I saw this last week or so (I don't remember where exactly), but I did a search and found the story on Space.com. Here's what it said:
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) -- Did a 27-year-old with perfect vision and admitted pickiness help prevent disaster on the space shuttle?
NASA may never know, but the manager of the shuttle program said inspections will be more thorough from now on.
The first of 11 tiny hairline cracks that grounded the entire shuttle fleet was spotted by David Strait, a sometime surfer with 20/20 vision who works for United Space Alliance, one of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's contractors.
Within the space agency there's talk of an award for the systems inspector, who caught the biggest potential hazard at the launch site since an engineer spied a 4-inch (10-centimeter) pin wedged against Discovery's fuel tank during a countdown in 2000.
Me too! I used to spend hours and hours on that! Ido remember making pinballs, and then giving to friends. I wished I had access to BBS' during those days. I even used BASIC to code little menus with music.:)
Too bad I don't have those disks anymore to upload to the Internet. Oh well.:(

DoD Web site. I think it is gaining more players and to me, this mod is much funner.

For example with Day of Defeat mod for Half-Life, HL is like a few years old and yet the mod is very popular. v3.0 beta just came out a few days ago and I am in awe with this mod.
Sure, the game engine uses outdated engine, but the fun is there. Now, if I could just play this awesome WWII mod in Linux (no Wine and stuff).:)
Yep, me too. I made two DOOM 2 mods.

I still have them. IIRC, I think they work well in jDoom too.:)
We're still not DOCSIS, and we only go up to like 1 Mb/sec max these days (even with @Home before it died). During peak hours, maybe 10KB/sec! Type in 91745 for http://www.dslreports.com/archive/adelphia.net (ignore the first few fastest speeds because they are not from City of Industry) and cringe:(.
I meant to paste this URL. Sorry about that. :(
There was a newsgroup thread about this, and even a video clip of it in action. Check out the thread.
That would be cool, but does the building have enough room to show all those pixels?
Check out its 11 minutes documentary on http://blinkenlights.de/video.en.html... It was very cool to watch. :)
Ah. I guess I have a reason not to play games in Linux yet. RTCW & Q3A don't have 3D sounds, so that won't be a problem.

Nooooooooo! Leave the ants alone! :P
AMDZone wrote a FAQ which was a good read.

A good place for those types of music.
DOH! Yeah! :)
Who learns and is good as infobot? I tried the original IRC Alice bot, but she was buggy. There's a new one but it is too new.
:)
And also, is there one active on any IRC servers? Thank you in advance.
I said, "Bender?" hehe. Darn my eyes.

Yeah, that is what I am doing. I update often. Eventually, I will reach a point that upgrading things will require more than just libraries. Heh.
I'm happy with my 7.1 and 7.2. I dislike upgrading OSes often.
