And then no oil company will work without having full insurance cover, and insurance companies will charge a gargantuan fortune to run that kind of risk, and the cost of fuel rises to compensate, and the price of your dinner goes up 4x or 5x every year. Congratulations, you've just destroyed society.
Society cannot run on oil forever. *Anything* that makes oil more expensive is a good thing, as it's pretty clear there are no more "easy" ways to get at oil (diminishing returns and all that) and we need to invest in alternative energy NOW while we still have the oil powering society to do so.
The sooner we're weaned off the near-dry teat of oil, the better.
Yeah, I certainly know all *my* professors were Marxists.
Especially the ones I dealt with while minoring in Business Admin. Boy, those economists, accountants, business analysts, marketers, and *especially* statisticians were all red on the inside.
Soldiers get payed crap, they deal with a job that curtails their constitutional freedoms, a job where they have to deal with the trauma of violence, death, killing and risk being killed/maimed themselves.
Sounds like a good reason to not sign up for an entirely voluntary force...
And that's only in 20 years. Now multiply 20 years by 190,000,000 for how long life has been around on our planet. Add in constantly changing fitness conditions, vast amounts of energy input (solar), temperature gradients up the wazoo, and some of the most reactive molecules in the universe (O2, liquid H2O) being present in MASSIVE quantities (well, O2 later on) all at a temperature that makes such molecules possible (i.e. not 2000C), and you get life/evolution.
How could you NOT get life/evolution in those set of circumstances?
If you can test it, it's not true evolution! If you see it, it wasn't evolution, because evolution cannot happen rapidly enough for people to even record!
This fine fellow and his E. Coli would like to disagree with you:
"A major evolutionary innovation has unfurled right in front of researchers' eyes. It's the first time evolution has been caught in the act of making such a rare and complex new trait.
And because the species in question is a bacterium, scientists have been able to replay history to show how this evolutionary novelty grew from the accumulation of unpredictable, chance events."
a) Value of money "taken out of the system" as profits by traders b) Value gained by people who wanted to buy and sell stocks and were able to do so (instead of not being able to)
Essentially: How much value is liquidity worth?
I'd guess a > b, which means people would (on average) be better off not being able to buy or sell when they want to instead of being able to.
Traders basically = eBay. What I want is Craig's List.
It's 640x480 dv (about 57Mbit/s). Nope, no lag that I'm aware of. Use it for video conferencing on a Mac Mini and it's perfect. Doesn't ever time out in camera mode if it's plugged in to power, which is great.
I bought it off eBay used like 4 years ago though, not sure how prevalent they are now.
and not opposing them means they only grow stronger.
Stronger how? And opposing what about them, exactly? Would we oppose their opposition to us meddling in the Middle East? If we weren't in the region, what reason would we have to oppose them?
and they do intend you and your values harm.
Don't tell me...is it because they "hate our freedom"?
Wake me up when they can accurately predict next years climate.
Next year doesn't have climate. It has weather.
There's a pretty big gulf between "wearing a tie" and "wearing a tshirt".

To work towards a positive change in America?
These people are our future, just as Irish/Italian/German immigrants were 100+ years ago.

I have a Masters in CS and I mainly do light javscript coding, graphic design, and shittons of project management at a large financial institution.
Whatever pays the bills, brotha. :)

OK, false alarm. Thought you were another one of those crazy "Islam is a fundamentally evil religion, but Christianity is peaches-and-cream" people.
I don't remember anyone criticizing Bush about golf.
I remember criticizing him for spending 487 days of his presidency at Camp David, and ANOTHER 490 days at his "ranch" in Texas.
That's 33.46% of his ENTIRE PRESIDENCY (2920 days), for those of you keeping score.

[*Loud buzzer goes off*] I see your true colors, shining through....
Don't tell me...Jesus was enough of a "prophet" that there's no need for scare quotes? Is that your position?
Can anyone seriously say that evolution is as proven as Newton's Laws of Motion on the scale of billiard table?
Evolution is a quazi-random process, so it can't be proven like LoM. But seriously:

Right, but which is larger?:

Oh, I'm no Obama fan (way too liberal for that), but people make it sound like he's done nothing but break promises from day one.
That and commorode_love sucks ass. I have a Foe list for a reason. :)
Also tends to break his promises. A lot.

I think we need Mohammad to be depicted in your low budget Phillipino/NYC Horror Movie.
That's apparently been in production for, oh, 6 years or so. :)
