    rz1715 review.

I believe the 6315 is pretty well linked on this thread, so I'll leave it out.

  4. 2D Games and Art on Why Haven't 3D Graphics Surpassed 2D Game Art? · · Score: 5, Insightful

The comparison between 2D classic graphics and modern 3D graphics could be seen as synonymous with the change to impressionistic art after photography came around.

...which is one of the reasons Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is still one of my favorite games. When all the 32-bit consoles were trying to get the most cutting-edge picture possible, games like SOTN were taking the artistic/gameplay route. Without worrying about things like model animation, the developers were free to work on other aspects, such as the soundtrack, physics, color balance, etc.

  12. Video playback problems. on History Of Doom Movie Debuts · · Score: 1

I checked out the videos this morning. Anyone else notice the weird frame advance problem that causes the video to go back one frame every few frames? It gets into sync every once in a while for about a second, then goes back out. That was on Windows Media Player 9, the one most likely to play it back properly.

Space agencies in Russia, Europe, Canada and Japan gave unanimous approval to a NASA plan that means the orbiting platform, now about half completed, will never become the beehive of scientific and commercial research once envisaged...

Of course, we all realize that Japan knew about this for twenty years and forgot to tell anybody. I wonder what they know about Bush's trip to Mars.

  25. Pushing for multimedia power in Linux on New MusE Release, A Step Toward The Linux Studio · · Score: 4, Insightful

We can all troll that Linux still has trouble supporting sound, decent system-wide hardware MIDI beyond KDE's aRTs MIDI (or a really nice software wavetable synth like WinGroove's), more-than-2 channel support for sound, and difficulties playing DVDs and WMV9 systems (which still seems impossible for the video portion even if the WMA2 stream plays), but I think this could be a push for improvements to all of the above.

(Wow, that was just one sentence)
