  1. Re:This article is not challenging peer-reviewed on Scientists Respond to Gore on Global Warming · · Score: 1

The Earth's magnetic field is fading. It has decreased by about 10% the last 150 years or so. (http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/09/0 909_040909_earthmagfield.html)

Since the magnetic field is shielding the Earth from cosmic radiation, I suspect it would affect the temperature in some way. The key word here is 'suspect'. I'm not a scientist, but I really want to know if my suspicion is real or not. Does it affect the climate (thus making it convenient to leave this out of the debate for people who predict man-made climate disaster), or doesn't it?

This story is from yesterday, so my hopes of getting any answers here are slim. I can still hope...

Compare the new Sony Vaio Core Duo 13,3" to the PowerBook 13,3". No matter what you add to the Mac config, you'll never reach the Sony's astronomical price.

What about comparing Dell's new Core Duo 17" to the PowerBook Pro 17".
The Dell is considerably more expensive.

This isn't saying Mac's are by any means cheap, but the competition isn't cheaper...

The reason is that it's using Intel's VT-x technology, and VMware doesn't do that (yet).

That said, I too hope that VMware will release one or more of it's products for MacIntel.
The product is far more mature. And since I've been working heavily on VMware's products for years, I feel more "in command" using them.

If they're not really understanding, then maybe you should reconsider if you like them. This is usually a sign that they don't really like you, and that you're just okay to have around because you fix things for them.

I know this is potentially hard to do. This always happens to people doing IT support (both hardware and software). I don't know why people are always willing to pay their car mechanics/plumber/electrician/carpenter/lawyer friends, while computer professionals are just expected to do things for free.

Anyway, my experience is: If people start taking andvantage of you, if they start taking you for granted, if they are abusing your goodwill... Then they are not your real friends, and it's time to end it off.

  6. The Earth's magnetic field has decreased by 10-15% on More Bad News About Global Warming · · Score: 1

Yeah, I'm most certainly too late to have any hope of being modded up.

Anyway, and I'm not protesting that there is a global warming going on, the Earth's magnetic field has decreased by 10-15% the last 100 years. The magnetic field is shielding us from radiation from space. Given that this field is weakest at the poles, this might have something to do with the missing ozone layer at the north and south pole.

Further, the planet is bound to be getting warmer with less shielding. Now why won't anyone take this into consideration? Because it's not spectacular enough? This just in: The global warming may not all be man made?

If there is some global warming going on due to greenhouse gases, there is the possibility we are speeding it up without our knowledge. The last 100 years or so, the air has been polluted by smoke and particles creating what's called global dimming.

What's happened is that we're getting very good at cleaning away this pollution. Catalysators on cars and cleaning systems for the industrial smoke. Again we see that more sunlight hits the earth, making it a warmer place.

My point is that there are more factors than populary taken into consideration. Man made global warming is without a doubt a possibility. What if we're only speeding up the inevitable?

    Now WINE isn't virtualization...
VMWare, on the other hand, is. It has existed for Linux (on x86) since the beginning, and there is even a VMWare player for Syllable.
