Do you really think that it will stay there? I suspect that it will disappear again shortly and re-appear soon after in a new and exciting location. I would love to see this thing get a lot of travel and appear all over the world, fueled by our imaginations and the fun of it all.
So............if you're near it, help it travel.

..,..the game boys dominance of this market. I spent a ridiculous amount of money ordering a Game Gear (SEGA) from Japan when they first came out, thinking it was the next big thing, and it was great, quality games, far superior graphics to the Game Boy. The only bad thing about it was that it seemed like I was the only one to buy the damn thing. Only traded games with one friend..........where's the fun? Where's the head-to-head football?
Damn it. I was sure that I had invented Jebus. I thought it was just wack shit that I talked about when I was high. Then I saw that Simpsons episode , which made me roll, and now this.
If you will recall, when the cd player first came out in the 80's it was prohibitively expensive. It was through the development of better manufacturing processes that it became cheaper. Production of mass quantities of an item brings the price down.
You're right about finding the pre-recorded tapes, I've only ever seen one.
As for the unreliabilty of the DAT, they are about as reliable as a cd player. I've had many cd players die on me because I didn't care for them. You forget that the DAT recorders we see these days are very high-end machines designed for high-quality professional audio. These are not toys or made for listening to music, they are tools and justifiably very expensive ones.
...pick up your things, walk out the door, and go home. Take a nap, think about things for a while, not important things, relaxing things. Feel all thoughts that you have about any "central authority" drifting away. It's important that you understand that we can never trust you again, but don't let it get you down, another couple weeks of rest and you might function normally again.
There was a huge blow-up between Brett Gurewitz (owner of Epitaph and ex-Bad-Religion guitarist) and The Offspring quite a while ago. The Offspring tell their side here, the official announcement is here, and Brett Gurewitz proves that he is a money grubbing dick beyond compare here (ps. the interview is all lies). I love when the interviewer asks Brett how he feels about being punk and in his 30's, he starts spouting about sticking to his ethics.
I've always been very curious about how language shapes the way that we think and the efficiency thereof. Would it be possible to create a more efficient "thinking" language?
Does anyone have any easy (or complex) answers about thought and how it is effected by speech? Can anyone recommend a good book?
I was never a fan of the music, image, acting abilities, or miscellaneous talents of Miss Love, but after reading her music industry manifesto I have a whole new opinion. Give it a read........she's no slouch.
As for your joke about Kurt Cobain's death.........grow up.
I think that fairtunes is a wonderful concept, and would love to watch it suceed as I dance through a meadow with faieries and leprechauns, but really........(sarcastic tone intended to imply that for the most part good natured, kind hearted people don't exist, Stephen King fans aside).
As dougman said, I read about this two weeks ago and the money hasn't exactly been rolling in.
........but the Beasties did rip off a Beatles guitar lick for "Egg Raid On Mojo", one of their earliest punk songs. It's available on the original PollyWogStew EP, Some Old Bullsh*t, and the sounds of science compilation. One of my favourite Beastie tunes. I remember freaking out when one of my buddies played me the original Beatles tune......very similar, might as well have been sampled.
The majority of the non-major labels have distribution deals with the majors, otherwise they have to deal individually with each individual retailer, which I'm sure would be hell.
Labels like Grand Royal (Beastie Boys), which is distributed by Capitol records, Fat Wreck Chords, which is distributed by Epitaph.....which was bought by Sony (who is an RIAA member, but not part of the lawsuit apparently), still give over a large chunk of change to the RIAA afilliated labels in order to have their records in stores.
Don't get me wrong, there are indie labels out there that are entirely indie......but they are few and far between.
Note: Alternative Tentacles is the music label owned by Jello Biafra of Dead Kennedy's fame. Jello, Alternative Tentacles, and the ex-members of the Dead Kennedy's have been embroiled in a vicious battle of late over the rights to and royalty payments from old releases. I personally don't know enough to pass any kind of judgement on this situation, but do feel that it is ridiculous to have these individuals violate the "punk rock" ethic" and use the sytem to bring down people who were once friends and who made muci with each other not out of the need for reprisal but out of the need for release.
Read all about the Open Audio Licence being developed at The Swindle. It is loosely based on the ideas behind the GPL and proposes to make any music released under it into community property. This is not only a statement of the ideals of the musicians involved but also a method of protecting the music by stating that any project which uses an OALed piece must also be released under the OAL. If this sounds interesting to you please come, read more, submit thoughts and help us make it real. Oh yeah, and if you know Courtney Love tell her to read it too.
I entirely agree with Jon on almost everything, although why he needs to make such grandiose analogies to get his point across I will never understand. Dollars have become votes, and will even more so as this corporatism progresses. I don't feel good about it at all. I vote with my dollar, not to the extent of only shopping at small businesses, but at the very least to the extent of buying from Corel rather than Microsoft (for the obvious reasons), or to not buying Nikes anymore because I don't agree with their hiring ethics (not that I was ever much of a runner). We can't expect the corporate world to change unless we tell it to. They are here to satisfy our needs and could be made to do it properly, they just ened to be slapped in the face and told what our needs truly are. If you want the lowest possible price on an item, be my guest to buy it from the cheapest provider, just remember that you are also responsible for why that item is so cheap. You become responsible for child labour, unsafe workplaces, corporate shuffles, and all the other evils of many corporations. Pick the lesser of evils long enough and the evil will lessen.
..and here it is. I don't think that we can think of the speed of light as a constant (do we?), but rather as a number related to its situation. If you don't think of it in this manner then you get into the sticky area of C > C, which gives me a headache when I think of it too much.
Therefore, if you were to say that an object with zero rest mass is able to travel at the speed of light, you must qualify that statement with a statement of the conditions under which it would be travelling the speed of light. This would become more important in situations where an object with a non-zero mass approaches the speed of light and the energy of said object is being calculated.
Then again, I almost failed grade 12 physics, but that was over a girl, not lack of understanding.
As of this moment I'm downloading a 120 minute drum n' bass set. This is not something you can get in a record store. Guess who's computer it's residing on? The dj who did the scratching.
This morning I downloaded a live cover of The Who's Baba O'Riley by Pearl Jam. I have seen it on CD, but it was a bootleg sold by a company from Italy.........not a penny to the artist anyway.
A Jane's Addiction cover of 'Sypathy for the Devil', unreleased.
A bunch of freestyles from Eminem and there you have it. A collection of live/rare music that would be impossible to get without Napster.
I had the same thing happen to me with IRC. I didn't accept it because the person who was sending left a message in channel about the fact that they had some kind of weird virus. I didn't hear a thing about it after that.
I tried out the security update on one of the workstations at work. I think it was the best thing that ever happened for the user. She became so frustrated with the lack of functionality that they switched over to Netscape mail. Last one..........thankfully. As for seeing an end to the "worm" viruses, it won't happen until everyone learns the lesson of this user. Only took her a year of constant chaos.

"Of" means that from which anything proceeds; indicating origin, source, descent, and the like or it can also denote ownership.
It sounds like "have", if you say it fast enough, I think this is where your confusion stems from.

CDA stands for Compact Disk Audio........no?
It is mans desire to kill other men and explore his land, country, world, universe that leads him to innovate technologically for the most part.
It think we should encourage exploration as the more healthy of the two.

ANyways, mark me down as a follower of Jebus.
Have you ever owned a DAT player, or a cd player?

Please log in. I can hardly take a few anonymous words seriously........they call you people cowards for a reason.

The thing that makes my brow arch is that Lucas said "shooting.......the DVD". What could that mean.......
