Maybe you're missing the fact that Nap servers do not serve any content. The Mp3's reside on the other users computers and the Nap server only points it out. This is the reason behind the debate. I don't think everyone here would be so pro-napster if they were actually distributing the mp3's themselves. It may seem like semantics because Napster "allows" the serving of the mp3's but it's a question of distinctions.
There is no new world. We still live in the old one, there's just a lot of changes. This happens constantly, particularly over the last century.
TO answer your question, no, Sealand does not have it's own TLD, but politics at this point are not determined by your web status. I'm sure that when politics are run by the web-savvy you'll be able to get yourself a nice Ambassador positions with words like "info-economy".
An addition to this is, if I actually had the resources to launch a satellite (which I don't at the moment, hehe), what is the regulatory body that would determine where it would go? I can imagine that it would cost a ridiculous amount of money to get the "licensing"? Are there any geostationary spots left? That seems like something that would fill up.
Someone in the know hook us up with some knowledge.
I didn't claim that The Force was my religion, just that I felt more incommon with the ideals of it than that of Christianity or the rest of the organized religions.
I also didn't say anything about how often I "get out". I'm a club kid, I get out too often. It's almost detrimental.
Am I supposed to apologize for having thought of this? Am I to apologize for being a fan of these films?
If it WERE a real religion, we'd probably all be dissing it as much as we are enjoying it now. I've done some reading up on the subject and the first thing that turned me off was the chastity involved.
Do you not think that the Jedi are above the silliness of our political system. I wish a lot more people were. A lot of ridiculous things are done by toeing the party line, on both sides.
I understand what you're saying, but The Force is probably the closest thing that my life comes to religion. I don't believe any of the others and the I have icons of the Jedi religion (read : action figures), I worship regularly (vhs), and I talk about it excitedly with my peers.
Therefore, where I asked, my answer might be the same. I'm a lot more Jedi than I am Christian or Muslim.
I haven't really seen much development in the skins or chrome. This is one of the more interesting and *kewl* features as far as I'm concerned. I know it's tacky, but not only do I want a browser that functions really well, I also want one that looks damn cool.
So where are all the chromes at? And don't point me to themes.org or the Netscape contest for themes. Those are mainly bad and I've grown bored of them.
I think that I personally would get a kick (and a lot of experience) from critiqueing the ads that I see and hearing others opinions of my critiques as well as other opinions.
Surely the easiest way of improving the ads that we see would be to open them up to criticism and set a certain standard. I'm not proposing that we only allow Open Source ads and geek ads, but finely constructed ads. Ads that make us laugh, ads that make us smile, ads that make us think, are far more valuable than just the ad from the company that had the money to put it up.
Perhaps/. or K5 aren't the best places to do such a thing but I think that there is a place for such critiqueing and people that would enjoy doing it.
If you want to compete for my mindshare........take my opinion into account.
Olympic Sponsor, I've seen your posts. I've never enjoyed one. Bring me something with grit, and when you troll bring me something with grits. You sir, are quite boring.
I always see these wonderful overclockers cases and a lot of discussion about adding extra fans for cooling and all of this stuff. Has anyone done any work at making a quiet computer. Can you buy fans that don't make boot-up sound like a shuttle launch?
My box is used for everything from digital audio recording to playing movies on my TV. It therefore holds a fairly sore thumb kind of role in my Living Room. Microphones don't like the noise.....and nor does my gf who unlike myself still hears the thing.........I just find it comforting.
I don't want this to be a flame, but it feels like one in my head already.
Why anything then? Why has man ever accomplished anything? Because accomplishment feels good, it helps us to advance. Go west, go farther, climb higher, have knowledge of the distant stars, see the smallest things imaginable........and yes, make your computer go faster. It's a pretty basic drive.
I'm sure you pine for the days of BASIC and your C-64, but the rest of us are trying to accomplish wonderful things and fulfill grand visions. It certainly was simpler and easier back then, and I would be the first to agree that the complexity of life, society, and technology may not be doing us a lot of good, but don't ask why.
You can tell Illiad is a fan. There have been several homages to Berke in the past. It's always nice to see someone you admire and who's work you enjoy tip their hat to someone that they admire.
I've become spoiled in netscape 4.x by using fullscreen. It's available here if you still surf oldschool. Probably my favourite NS plugin/app ever.
I started using it because I had a 14" monitor and wanted to see more page, continued using it even on a 21 incher because it was so sweet. Much better in my opinion than IE's fullscreen.
Would love to see a Mozilla version. Mail them at info@inquare.com, pressure will make them comply.
This is what happens when we have punishment for moderation.......people wuss out and don't mod how they really think. I propose an adjustment to the mod system where we take away the punishments and add a little comment box. I think it would be nice to see moderators explain their actions. It certainly wouldn't bother me to explain mine when modding. It would be nice to have an opportunity to explain to the meta-modders, who can be any joe, something that might be technical and not necessarily obvious.
Posted with no +1 bonus to avoid the mod radar. Couldn't give in and go anon.
You can get it here, although I haven't checked it out myself. I'm too afraid of the massive credit problems associated with my name and don't want to tip them to the fact that I'm not dead as I have claimed.
Many of these "return-postage-provided" envelopes don't have a limit on the weight of the package. Think about it for a sec...........ahhhhhhhhh, just glue it to a nice big brick and drop it in the mail box. Especially nice way of satisfying yourself if a company is pissing you off.
Not that I encourage such anarchistic methods of revenge.
You could maybe be offended by this idea if I had proposed to continue moving the monolith around to other bird sanctuaries and inviting masses of people to come view it........I was actually proposing the removal of the monolith from the sanctuary, thereby ending the disruption it caused.
This was posted on /. a while ago, this guy has millions of old atari games for sale at a buck apiece in quantity. Get in contact with him.
Note that he also sells those styling oldskool orange Atari shirts. nice.

You need to pay more attention.

Just a simple question.
Do *you* know how to make soap?
I have vague recollections, but in a bind I don't think I could make soap.

I agree entirely with Shoeboy on this one.
The mod points are worth it.

Damn, I just wasted a whole hour reading UserFriendly. Hate my job........
Here's another comic that indirectly props Berke. The cat.

It would be way too much of a coincidence to typo "%0D" at the end of an URL more than once.
Here is the right link.

In other words, suck it trollboy.
