It's equivalent to using a synth to reproduce a full orchestra. There are some people that just find that sort of thing easier. If you want to judge someones music on how much effort it took, disregarding what it sounds like, then you'd probably love mine! =]
Okay, sorry about assuming that, but it sounded as if you were trying to speak for dj shadow.
> Does it produce the same sound and feel that > real records do?
I think I'll agree with you there.
> So calx instead of slamming on me for a post try > replying to the content of my post.
I did reply to your post. I personally take offense to you coming down on people who find this interesting. That's great that you have your speculations and assumptions, but you could express them without saying "mp3 kiddies who are too stupid/cheap to buy records for themselves or get plates pressed of their own music." I for one am not an mp3 kiddie who is too stupid (I am a poor college student though, but not cheap) to get his records pressed. I would actually use this though not in a live context.
I was only slamming that.
calx=dodo head KrON=poopy head
BTW. I completely agree that no dj is going to run out and get the BeOS and start lugging their PC(or PPC) to their parties, but there are those who like to experiment in the studio. =]
ps. thank you for clarifying. Sorry about the previous fuzziness.
I don't really give a damn whether or not "Shadow" endorses this. What really irritates me is dipshit talk like: "This stuff is aimed towards mp3 kiddies who are too stupid/cheap to buy records for themselves" Generalizations like that earn you no bozo buttons, KrON. After all, wouldn't the same level of skill be involved whether one is scratching records or mp3s?
I believe everyone on/. should look to KrON as a credible source of musical opinion and avoid becoming a "mp3 kiddie", and continue exploring the age defying art of turntable technique.
I think of all the people, we should look at what Martin Lopez has done for not only the Open Source Movement, but for all of humanity as well. If we are to seriously interact with the "suits" we need Lopez's mild-mannered, yet persuasive peronality as well as all of the contacts he has made over the years.
and you have an environment friendly to the average user. I am all for it. It is the users choice. I personally use StarOffice and WordPerfect. I've always hated MSOffice.
I bet that someone will flame me for saying KDE. I bet that same person might just say GNOME rulez, you suck.
Hell yeah. That is (I think, I maybe wrong) the greatest selling point of any *nix. Flexiblity. I want to configure my machine the way I want it to run. I love actively controlling every aspect of my OS. While this might intimidate those who want it to "plug it in, use some Network Administration Wizards and reboot it every week or so", it never bothers me. I could be one of those crazy people. Not to say I am a guru, just an apprentice. =]
If you think you got the balls to insult everyone who reads slashdot: "looks like the typical/. iq remains where it's always been - below that of the intelligent general public.", you might want to tell us who you are, tough guy. Just a little something special from you friend calx, who isn't even able to look at the article, because their server is down.
Why must so many people argue about which OS is better. I use FreeBSD, Linux and BeOS. They each have their strengths and weaknesses. Do any of you realize how hard it is to convince someone that their OS choice is a bad one? Especially using a very impersonal platform like this. Even if Linus himself came up to me and said "David, stop using FreeBSD, it sucks.", I wouldn't listen to him. I have my reasons, you have yours. The options are out there. It's pointless to drag a "this OS owns that OS" thread when I can't recall even one time when it ended up with someone changing their mind.
I think we should break up the Slakware project. I think that too many people are using it, and we must put an end to it at once. It has become too powerful and the ability to intimidate large OEMs to see things their way.
We must also force the KDE and GNOME projects to cease development to allow other projects to catch up.
Give the people what they want. After all, the consumer is the one who will make the final decisions on issues like this.
No animals were harmed in anyway during the beta testing of SuSE 6.0
This guy gives us an advertisement for a reason to try a Linux dist. Maybe later.
I was going to send that story...

But I figured I wouldn't since the 6.0 directory didn't have the 2.2final kernel. (Thank god, considering the ldd./core nastiness.) Anyone know if the 2.2 kernel is now in the dist? I can't log in due to the massive amount of people going for the best damn Linux distribution. Nevermind, got in. The kernel is 2.2.0pre7. I don't think they are finished yet, since I am sure they would announce it on their web site.
Okay how about another one, a tad faster.

Yeah. Been waiting. Time to compile. There goes my uptime. Shit. A whole 3 days. Darn, as long as its stable and can give me a nice clean, fast kernel. Been using 2.2.0pre3 for a little over three weeks now without a burp, but I just gotta have the latest of everything, you know? Good job guys. Next month, I'll buy you all a drink.

Ahh, skipped that word. An important one too.
/calx needs sleep.
It's real easy to find out who I am, BigGuy.
You actually chose an OS based on your modem?
If you walked around in Gary, Indiana at 3am.

hahahaha. must be a pretty robust OS.
Hey! It can handle 200 users!

BTW, although not as slow as a modem, I am on a high traffic network. (A dorm to be precise.) ie. don't expect 256k/s d/l
Get the kernel src here.
I got both tar.gz n' bzipped.
Get em' while they're hot.
Avoid the usual places.
